The famous haunted ship The RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA is getting a horror movie named after her. The vessel’s annual Dark Harbor event has been a popular Halloween haunt for thrill seekers since 2009. The attraction is based on the real ghost stories that have been told throughout the ship’s post-war history.
Now, Vertical is releasing Haunting of Queen Mary based on one of those tales on August 18.
The film is produced in part by White Horse Pictures who also backed The Woman in Black, Let Me In, and End of Watch. It is directed by Gary Shore.
In 2014 Shore made his feature film debut with the horror fantasy epic Dracula Untold, for Universal Pictures. Haunting of Queen Mary stars Alice Eve who most recently starred in Julian Fellowes’ Downtown Abbey follow up Belgravia and the thriller The Infernal Machine.
This is the first film of a proposed trilogy that explores the haunted ship.
Haunting of the Queen Mary is a psychological horror that explores the mysterious and violent events surrounding one family’s voyage on Halloween night in 1938, and their interwoven destiny with another family onboard the infamous ocean liner present day.
