Fans of the Alien franchise got some exciting news today. A new article out of Deadline just announced that Timothy Olyphant (Justified) is now attached to the project. Olyphant has made a name for himself in shows such as Fargo, Santa Clarita Diet, and The Book of Boba Fett.
Timothy Olyphant isn’t the only big name attached to this upcoming prequel. So far, the cast list includes Alex Lawther (The End of the Fucking World), Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror), Essie Davis (The Babadook), Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger), and Kit Young (Shadow and Bone).

I know that horror fans may be getting burned out by the constant slate of reboots and prequels, but this project has something most others do not. Alien will be produced by Ridley Scott (Alien). This version will be set before the events of the Ripley saga.
Production of the prequel started back in July during the actor’s strike using non American talent. After wrapping up what they could, production was paused until a deal could be made with SAG-AFTRA. Alien is scheduled to resume production in early 2024.

The Alien prequel is written by the amazing Noah Hawley (Fargo). Hawley has been attached to the project during the strikes and said the following to Deadline about the pause:
“I got some footage. Some of the first hour was shot before we had to shutdown. It’s stuff to play with and edit,”, “I’m excited to get back in there.”
Will this new adaptation be able to make fans of the franchise happy? It looks like we will find out soon. That’s all the information we have at this time. As always, make sure to check back here for updates and all of your horror news.
