The Exorcist’s latest trailer proves that this double possession is still part of the same demon. It proves that the demon has an hidden motive and that it may be built around Regan herself. The Exorcist: Believer gives us a whole lot more of what possession fans are salivating for. Mainly, they are looking to see nostalgia and relics of the past including Chris MacNeil.
The trailer unveils a whole lot. In fact, I’m hoping that it doesn’t end up revealing too much. David Gordon Green trilogies have gone that route before with Halloween and I’m hoping that isn’t the case here.
The synopsis for The Exorcist: Believer goes like this:
Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine, disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.
The Exorcist: Believer arrives in theaters October 6.
