This is one film that fans of this series will be hyped to see. What once started as a crazed internet sensation and creepypasta, The Backrooms is now coming to the big screen. It was announced earlier last year that A24 would be teaming up with Kane Parsons who runs the YouTube channel Kane Pixels to direct the feature-length film. No release date or cast has been announced yet. You can check out the short film from Kane Pixels and more about the creepypasta below.

The Backrooms are a fictional concept that follows the idea of endless liminal-like spaces. It first started on 4chan back in 2019 and originated from a creepy image of a yellow room. It originally followed the idea of endless maze-like offices that were empty and could only be reached by noclipping out of reality. People across the internet began to add their lore and created levels to which you could escape these rooms but had to avoid entity-like creatures.

Kane Parsons, who was 16 years old at the time, released his take on the popular creepypasta back in 2022 and it completely blew up on YouTube. One of the biggest takeaways was the amazing CGI in this short film. The short film followed a group of friends in 1996 who were filming their antics on a vintage V/H/S style camcorder. Then suddenly, the cameraman is noclipped into a strange set of endless rooms. Upon traveling to these rooms, he stumbles across an entity-like creature out to kill him. The short film currently sits at 55.5M views on the platform.

This creepy internet story has produced an unlimited number of short films and video games over the past couple of years. A24 seems to have hit the jackpot with a popular internet-created horror film and bringing in one of the most popular creators for The Backrooms.
