‘The Addams Family’ Spinoff ‘Wedndesday’ Has Cast the Role of Lurch

The Tim Burton Series Has Cast a Vital Role

Tim Burton’s Netflix series, Wednesday is well on the way. The 8-episode first season is turning out to be quite the exciting project. Just this week we announced that longtime Burton collaborator, Danny Elfman is going to score the series. Now, one of the Addams Family’s iconic roles has been cast.

The role of Addams Family butler, Lurch will be played by George Burcea. Burcea is famous for his roles in Comrade Detective, Say Yes and Dawn of Night among others. The Frankenstein-like butler was originally played by Ted Cassidy who was also famous for his role as Tarzan. Cassidy made the role iconic. Since then the part of Lurch has been portrayed by Carel Struycken, John DeSantis and Zachary James.


The synopsis for Wednesday goes like this:

Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Netflix’s Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Gwendoline Christie, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Georgie Farmer, Naomi Ogawa and Moosa Mostafa.
