‘Stranger Things’ Actor, Jamie Campbell-Bower Who Played Vecna Sings in a Hardcore Band

When Vecna wasn’t out looking for souls to collect and bodies to mangle in Hawkins, he was apparently blowing off steam in a hardcore rock band. Actor Jamie Campbell-Bower who plays Vecna in Stranger Things has been really quiet about it, but Bower is the vocalist in a band called Counterfeit.
During an interview with Consequence of Sound Bower admitted that he was was very into listening to heavy black metal bands in order to get into the character of Vecna. The actor would get into makeup and then listen to a long list of black metal artists. Sun 0))), Carpathian Forest, Darkthrone and Mayhem were all some serious black metal that the actor would saturate himself in to get in the headspace of Vecna. If you have heard those bands before, you would know that it makes a lot of sense. These bands all have songs that resemble what Vecna looks like and what Vecna plans for. It fits the end of Hawkins and the end of the world.
Campbell’s band put out 1 full length studio album and 3 EP’s over the course of their career. In 2020, the band appears to have split up however, it is always possible that they get back together in the future. I’m sure fans would certainly love to see Vecna singing in the band if they were to tour again. Fingers crossed Counterfeit finds a way to get back together for more music.

Stranger Things has become all about the music in season 4. We had a Kate Bush song that saved Max and re-popularize the song again. We also had Metallica’s Master of Puppets see an huge increase of downloads of the song. In addition, Metallica joined a Tik Tok video in order to duet with Eddie Munson in his famous scene in which Munson shreds Master of Puppets to helps save the world. There is all that great music and now we discover Bower is in a band and that Vecna found inspiration in black metal. All of that is insanely gnarly.
You can check out Bower playing and singing in Counterfeit below.

Ghostface Stars in Scream VI’s ‘Still Alive’ Music Video

Scream VI is right around the corner and in the latest music video Demi Lovato takes on Ghostface. It isn’t what we were expecting to see from the soundtrack but Still Alive is still a nice addition the Scream VI soundtrack.
It does make me miss the old Scream soundtracks. The soundtracks for Scream 2 and Scream 3 were really great and full of alternative rock picks. Nowadays, soundtracks are sadly devoid of those kinds of picks.
The film stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox, Dermot Mulroney, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, and Henry Czerny.
The synopsis for Scream VI goes like this:
Four survivors of the original Ghostface killings attempt to leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Shares First Image of Lady Gaga With Joaquin Phoenix

The first image of the sequel to Joker shares a first look at its two stars. Both Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix are featured in the first lovely image from Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux.
The term Folie à Deux means shared “shared delusional disorder”. We are sure that this will be something thoroughly explored in the sequel between these two.
The synopsis for Joker went like this:
Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks — the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he’s part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Adult Swim Terrifies Audiences With Surprise Film Disguised as a ‘Yule Log’

If you recall a few years back Casper Kelly made a collection of late-night, faux infomercials. These ranged from a popular one titled Too Many Cooks, and a terrifying one titled Unedited Footage of a Bear that acted as a late-night pharmaceutical commercial. As they progress, they end up becoming more and more disturbing. Kelly’s latest work, Fireplace aka Yule Log, is a surprise horror film that plays out around a Yule Log burning in a fireplace.
Fireplace/Yule Log surprised audiences last night by going from a faux Yule Log fire to a full-on, feature-length horror movie. Best of all, this horror film is effective on all fronts. It jumps from supernatural to slasher to home invasion to killer log exploration and then back again. What makes Yule Log that much more interesting and worthwhile is the ingenuity around its production. For most of the film the camera is entirely in one spot before going full Evil Dead and flying around the room.
Yule Log is also very much about its practical effects gore. The first bit of this shocks you by bashing someone’s face off, in full unflinching gory glory. Much like the Infomercial series, Yule Log is also very funny, and never takes itself too seriously. I’m also a huge fan of how Yule Log jumps from dread-filled to gut-busting.
Ever since Kelly created those creepy Infomercials, I have been a huge proponent of him getting his own horror film. I’m happy to see that he is excellent even in a feature format. It is also an added hilarious bonus that Kelly wrote the title track for “The Fireplace” as a nice end credit treat.
“Last year during the holidays I was watching a yule log video and suddenly I had an image of legs walking past the fire, just slightly out of focus, and hearing dialogue off screen.” Kelly said. “I loved the mysteriousness of that, and a story started to form. I’m so grateful to Adult Swim for taking the plunge with me, and I’m so proud to have made their first live-action film!”

Fireplace/Yule Log is as hilarious as it is chilling and its ability to jump between those two sentiments is a real accomplishment and keeps you on your toes. It takes some talent to be rife with dread and also to be a knee-slapper. Fireplace/Yule Log is unnerving and darkly funny all with a special kind of fantastic subversion. Kelly has a bright future ahead of him in horror. Fingers crossed he works with the likes of Blumhouse or Atomic Monster next.
You can stream Fireplace/Yule Log now on HBO Max.
