“I want to play a game.” The newest edition to the Saw franchise is titled Saw X and will bring us more disturbing traps and John Kramer. Saw X will take place between the first and second films and will be the longest movie in the franchise. It’s set to be released on September 29th of this year exclusively in theaters. The film synopsis states “John Kramer is back. The most chilling installment of the Saw franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game. Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.”
This marks the tenth chapter in the Saw franchise. The franchise has produced a total of ten films including sequels and a spinoff. The first film titled Saw came out in 2004 and was met with huge success. Made on a $1.2M budget, the film ended up making a total of $103.9M at the box office. This in turn would create a franchise that has now grossed over $1B at the box office.
The film is being released by Lionsgate and is being produced by Twisted Pictures. It is being directed by Kevin Gruetert (Saw VI, Saw 3D). The story is written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. The movie is set to star Tobin Bell (Saw Franchise) as the infamous John Kramer. The movie will also star Micheal Beach (Aquaman, Mayor of Kingstown), Renata Vaca (Dale Gas, Rosario Tijeras), Steven Brand (The Scorpion King, Teen Wolf), and Synnøve Macody Lund (Headhunters, The Girl in the Spider’s Web).
