French actor Gaspard Ulliel died yesterday in a skiing accident in France. He was 37 years old.

Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, France in 1984, Ulliel was the son of a fashion designer father and runway show directing mother. The actor made his debut at the age of 12 in Un femme en blanc, a series about a young surgeon who returns to her home town. Later, he would appear as a young shepherd injured by a terrifying beast in Brotherhood of the Wolf.

In the US, Ulliel was perhaps best known for his English-language film debut as a young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising.  He will also appear in the upcoming Moon Knight series as Anton Mogart aka Midnight Man on Disney+ opposite Oscar Isaac in the title role.

According to CNN, Gaspard Ulliel was apparently skiing at La Rosière ski resort in Savoie when he collided with another skier. He did not regain consciousness after the collision and was pronounced dead at the Grenoble University Hospital Center where he was taken by care-flight Tuesday afternoon. The news was announced this afternoon.

“Gaspard Ulliel grew up with cinema and cinema grew up with him. They loved each other madly,” French Prime Minister Jean Castex said.

iHorror extends our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Gaspard Ulliel.
