Roberto Patino (Sons of Anarchy) has signed a multi-year overall deal with Netflix. The writer/producer will set up a production company under the banner of Analog, Inc. with the intention of producing new and original products for the streaming giant. Patino’s first project will be an adaptation of Image Comics’ Nocterra.
According to a press release we received, “Nocterra is a high-octane sci-fi adventure telling the story of Val Riggs, a “Ferryman” who relays people and goods through a world enveloped by a lasting darkness that turns the living into monstrous creatures called shades. ”
Patino will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the series adaptation along with James Wan under his Atomic Monster banner. Wan is joined by Michael Clear and Rob Hackett.
“The ease, honesty and profound creative support I’ve found in Bela (Bajaria), Peter (Friedlander), Matt (Thunell), Alex (Sapot), Andrew (McQuinn) and Kenyatta (Smith) has been nothing short of ideal,” Patino said. “Netflix is an extraordinary champion of intentional and inclusive storytelling, and I’m so eager to use this opportunity to tell bold stories that properly represent the Latinx community in entertaining, exhilarating and powerful ways. I couldn’t be happier to call Netflix my new home, and I can’t wait to hit the ground running with Nocterra and my boundary-pushing friends and partners at Atomic Monster.”
There is no word yet on when the production will officially begin, but iHorror will keep you up to date on all the latest news as it becomes available.
