Linda Blair was on set for production of David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist: Believer. At first fans didn’t know what to make of her role in the film. Ellen Burstyn is back playing Kris MacNeil, so it was entirely possible Blair would play her iconic role as well. It turns out that Blair was on the set as an advisor.
Her role as an advisor extended to assisting the kids with their roles in the film. She had a lot of experience as a child and placing herself in some dark, dangerous places for her role with William Friedkin. So, Blair assisted by advising the young stars of Exorcist: Beleiver.
The synopsis for The Exorcist: Believer goes like this:
When his daughter, Angela, and her friend Katherine, show signs of demonic possession, it unleashes a chain of events that forces single father Victor Fielding to confront the nadir of evil. Terrified and desperate, he seeks out Chris MacNeil, the only person alive who’s witnessed anything like it before.

“She came to set because she was an advisor on the movie – because we’re dealing with young people, and we want to take them to dangerous places safely, I was really lucky to have her read the script, but she was not interested in a significant role and stepping back into that.“ Green said.
Blair might really be in an advisor role… but something tells me that they are trying to hide the full truth on this one. I think Blair will play a role in the film as her character. If it doesn’t happen in the first film, it might become a reality in one or both of the sequels as well. I’m not giving up hope yet.
What do you think? Do you think that Blair is going to return as Regan in David Gordon Green’s Exorcist trilogy?
