Krazy House, a film blending horror and comedy within a 90s sitcom setup, stands out as a unique horror-comedy. Directed by Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil, the film features a star-studded cast including Nick Frost, Alicia Silverstone, and Kevin Connolly.
Set in the 1990s, the film revolves around Bernie (played by Nick Frost), a religious homemaker who discovers that the workmen in his house are Russian criminals. The plot thickens as Bernie and his family are coerced into searching their home for hidden treasure, leading to a series of darkly humorous and chaotic events.

“Growing up watching American sitcoms back in Holland, there was not much on television. Lots of reruns of all the classic sitcoms ‘Full House,’ ‘Who’s the Boss?’, that kind of stuff,” Haars told TheWrap’s Executive Editor Adam Chitwood, who mentioned that the film was inspired by the sitcom “Married With Children”. “I always noticed that it was such a safe world, and it was funny in a way. The idea that if something goes terribly wrong interested us for a long time. That was the start, to make ’90s sitcom and just f—k things up.”
“Krazy House” promises to be a blend of nostalgia, humor, and suspense, and is now showing at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Watch the trailer below:
