Amazon’s continuing adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens made casting announcements for the highly anticipated second season today!

Jon Hamm is set to return as the archangel Gabriel, but he’s not the only angel on board. Liz Carr (Silent Witness) has been cast as the angel Saraqael and Quelin Sepulveda will take on the role of Muriel. Shelley Conn of Bridgerton is also joining the cast, but the only thing we know so far is that her character originates in Hell.

The first season of Good Omens covered the story originally published in Gaiman and Pratchett’s book. It focused on Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel and demon respectively, who had been on Earth from the beginning. As the Apocalypse approaches, they decide they don’t want the world to end and pull out all the stops to save the life they’ve grown accustomed to living.

It was a madcap race to the finish line, and ended almost exactly as the book had.

With season two, we’re traveling into uncharted territory. Gaiman has said on numerous occasions that he and Pratchett wrote much more than what we’ve read before, and he’s promised us a brand new adventure with our favorite fussy angel and snake-eyed demon in tow.

Deadline quoted the author saying:

Good Omens 2 just would not be the same without the astonishing Jon Hamm as Gabriel, everyone’s worst boss. The story that Terry Pratchett and I created all those years ago continues to take us from London’s Soho into Heaven and Hell. It’s a delight for me to bring back characters we loved (or hated) and bring in new characters, from the shiniest top floors of Heaven to the dankest basements of Hell, to love (or to hate, or to love to hate or hate to love). All of them are part of the strange and unusually beloved family of Good Omens.
