The Walking Dead may be the most influential zombie program to have aired, but there was a time when the franchise faced some serious competition, most notably from the Syfy original, Z Nation.
The series is loved for its fun approach to the zombie genre. Unlike The Walking Dead, Z Nation never took itself too seriously and focused on entertainment above all else. Fans were devastated to hear that the series would be canceled after the ending of its fifth season.

Black Summer would be set in the same universe, the series ultimately failed to grasp the elements that fans enjoyed so much in Z Nation, and it was eventually scrapped.
But all hope is not lost. The Asylum posted an update on X today, indicating the series may return for another season. This cryptic post offers zero insight into what the team has planned next for the franchise, but it is better than nothing.
The main concern will be whether Z Nation will have the pulling power necessary to keep viewers interested after such a long break. The final episode of the series aired almost six years ago, and fans may have forgotten about it at this point.
Either way, more horror is always better.
That’s all the information on Z Nation we have at this time. Stay tuned for more updates.
