It was a quiet evening at home, my night off actually. I impatiently scanned through the channel lineup seeking out something to watch and nothing. Overwhelmed by the selections, I browsed through Netflix, and again nothing. A few moments went by, discouraged and wasting time I moped around the house, “What could I possibly watch right now?” My brother-in-law turned to me and had mentioned something about Christmas and then like a missile, it hit me! “Dude, hah! Holy shit, that movie came out about that Santa Clause this week!” “What the hell are you talking about? Another Silent Night Deadly Night? ” with the most confused expression on his face. “Naww, man! Even better! All of these hot girls running around through houses, and some deranged Santa is chasing them, it is called All Through The House! Shit does not get better than that,” excitedly I said as I fondled the remote. “Look, it is even on Amazon Prime, Score!,” I yelled out loud. Simply put, that was the story of how I decided to watch All Through The House.

Undoubtedly the fall season and Halloween is my favorite time of the year, along with many other horror fans alike and that will never change. However, Christmas horror films do fit snug in a special place in my heart. From such deadly slay bell hits as Black X-Mas, Silent Night Deadly Night, Christmas Evil, Santa’s Slay, Silent Night, and Jack Frost, Todd Nunes All Through The House is sure to be on that list, every year, ranking at the very top. Below is my spoiler free mini review of the film, All Through The House.

What can I say? All Through The House had me at its bone-chilling Santa Clause cover, along with its title. In the tradition of an 80s’ slasher hit, All Through The House takes me to a far off place that I once knew, it brought me back to memories of my teenage years, sitting on the couch with my boys and watching that nostalgia 80s classic! At that moment I knew I had stumbled upon something quite special.

Set in the Christmas Season, this jolly flick is a no holds barred slasher film with an unhinged Santa wreaking havoc on a small, close-knit community. Rachel Kimmel (Ashley Mary Nunes), has just arrived home from college and is in dire need to celebrate the holidays with her friends Sarah (Danica Riner) and Gia (Natalie Montera). Oddly enough Rachel has a past that is quite precarious. From the beginning, there is a striking correlation between Rachel, Neighbor Mrs. Garrett, and this Santa Clause. I commend Director and Writer Todd Nunes on the body count and the twisted secrets that expel throughout the story; this is just what horror fans demand so graciously! Nunes captures many clichés that set the foundation long ago for the 80’s slasher genre. Using practical effects and gags, it is apparent that the cast worked seamlessly through these gory scenes. Mutilation and body parts weren’t the goriest part of this film. My God, the decorations! Oodles of decorations covered every nook and cranny of these homes, it was almost sickening. (The Christmas Shower Curtains had me rolling)!

The actresses were gorgeous, and the acting was exactly how it should have been for this type of film (perfect in my eyes). All Through The House will bring Yuletide joy to fans everywhere. Film Synopsis:

All Through the House revolves around a Christmas-obsessed neighborhood engulfed in fear when five-year-old Jamie Garrett mysteriously vanishes from her home never to be seen again. The missing girl’s house goes dark as her mother becomes a depressed recluse. The local children, mesmerized by the haunted story, trade bedtime fears about their missing friend, eventually turning the tragedy into an innocuous fairy tale. Fifteen years later, Rachel Kimmel, a 22-year-old student comes home for Christmas. Rachel’s memories of the missing girl bring her face to face with the creepy Mrs. Garrett. Meanwhile, the neighborhood is struck by horror as a faceless Santa-killer stalks the wintry streets, leaving a trail of slaughtered women and castrated men to the steps of the Garrett house. Rachel soon finds herself in a horrifying nightmare as she discovers the madness behind the Santa mask. The killer’s twisted revelation sends Rachel into shock as she learns her own sick connection to the Garrett family legacy.

Ashley Mary Nunes (Rachel) had this to say about ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE:

“…Of course I loved my character, because she is strong and complex, but I’m really drawn to the twisted and crazy characters she meets in this movie. The Killer in ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE is disturbing, gross and also unique – I’m fascinated by the depraved impulses. I know that everyone is going to love all the gore and violence, but there is also a twisted mystery that ties it all together like a big Christmas bow.”

Melynda Kiring (Mrs. Garrett) had this to say about her character:

“Never have I played a person who was so emotionally wretched as Mrs. Garrett. There was no easy way to get into that character. At one point, in order to break me down for a particularly difficult scene, the Director, Todd Nunes, locked me in a tiny, dark bathroom for an hour. Ultimately, I hope the character inspires curiosity and pity, and, hopefully, more than a little revulsion. You will never look at Christmas the same way again. I know I won’t.” Asst. Director Glenda Suggs has this to say about the script “When you’ve read the script, been part of the creative process and are STILL shocked, horrified and disturbed by the end product, you know you have something brutal. Brutally awesome. Brutally bloody.”
