Top 20 list of the maddest characters in Mad Max: Part 1 of 2

Published

on

The George Miller post-apocalyptic wasteland is no place for the sane. It truly belongs to the mad. We made a two-part list of our favorite characters in the world of Mad Max, from the insane to the downright mad.

20. Dr. Dealgood (Edwin Hodgeman) – The Michael Buffer meets Ed Sullivan of Bartertown was the mouth of the people. A big mouth. He liked being front and center despite those embarrassing shoulder pads. This sleazy guy seems like someone who enjoys the misery of others, especially if it means putting him front and center in front of a crowd and making an extra dollar here and there. “Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls… dyin’ time is here!”

19. The Toadie (Max Phipps) – The Toadie is Lord Humungus’s right hand man and is entrusted with the pivotal role of announcing Humungus at gatherings and soon to be massacres. His job prior to the apocalypse may have been spent announcing WWF wrestlers as they came into the ring. The Toadie has one objective be brutal, serve his master and come up with some damned good catch phrases.

18. The Feral Kid (Emil Minty) The center and narrator of “The Road Warrior,” this kid spends his time exploring hidden tunnels of the wasteland. Instead of seeing Max as a crazy drifter he sees him as an only hope. The kid is near fearless… well, that is until he is faced with a maniacal marauder with a red mohawk.

17. Nightrider (Vincent Gil) Not only does this guy introduce us to the world of baddies in the first entry of “Mad Max,” he is also the spark that leads Max to his destiny of becoming a warrior of the wasteland. For godsake he is a fuel injected suicide machine, he is a rocka, he is a roll, and an out of controlla, he is the chosen one, he is the NIGHTRIDER!!!

16. The Organic Mechanic (Angus Sampson) The Citadel “doctor” works on patients like they were vehicles needing oil changes or strut replacement. The Organic Mechanic is an important member of Immortan Joe’s gang since he is the only one that can do a proper patch up job on a downed “blood bag,” and could be the man behind Immortan Joe’s continued longevity despite clearly falling apart. mad-max-beyond-thunderdome

15. Ironbar  (Angry Anderson) – Ironbar was a thug that took pleasure in the dirty dealings of Bartertown. He is Aunty Entity’s right hand man. His ruthless demeanor makes him one of the more dangerous people in “Beyond Thunderdome.” Oh yea, and the fact that he has a freaking creepy porcelain mask complete with a black wig attached to his back for company, helps to make him one of the creepier bastards in the wasteland.

14. Rictus Erectus (Nathan Jones) This hulking giant is Immortan Joe’s favorite son. Rictus will do anything in order to keep his dad proud. While all that sounds sweet on the surface, when you figure killing and making war is the only way to keep his dad happy you might discover it isn’t the sweetest thing in the world. I guess its all about perspective. In the wasteland he might get the best son of the year award.

13. Aunty Enitity (Tina Turner) This is the mad valkyrie that makes the laws of Bartertown and is behind clever laws like “two men enter, one man leaves” and “bust a deal, face the wheel.” I can only be certain that she has a entire law book that reads like a Dr. Seuss of the wasteland but we are only privy to a couple in “Beyond Thunderdome.” Aunty will stop at nothing to gain complete control over Bartertown even if that means breaking her own Suessical laws from time to time and murdering a few people here and there.

Road-Warrior-Wez

12. Wez – (Vernon Wells) – One of the fiercest and oddest people of the wasteland. This red mowhawked devil is enlisted in Lord Humungus’s tribe. He roams the empty roads looking for things to scavage and people to murder. In his free time he enjoys climbing onto the grills of big rigs whilst scaring small children to death and seeking revenge on people who hurt his “friend” The Golden Youth. It’s also rumored that he will show up to and destroy high school parties in a cross over John Hughes films.

11. The Bullet Farmer (Richard Carter) Riding around in a car made to look like a tank dubbed “The Peacemaker” is awesome enough. But this crazy war titan from Bullet Farm also dawns bullet lined Samurai inspired gear when marching into war. He doesn’t sweat the small stuff and doesn’t see the importance in Immortan Joe’s plight but he rolls with it anyways. The chance to put a bullet in someone makes it worth every second of his time.

Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow for the second part of our list, where we reveal the maddest bastard in all the wasteland!

Published

It’s always nice to see a reunion in the world of horror. Following a competitive bidding war, A24 has secured the rights to the new action thriller film Onslaught. Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs. Kong) will be directing the film. He will be joined by his longtime creative partner Simon Barret (You’re Next) as the scriptwriter.

For those unaware, Wingard and Barret made a name for themselves while working together on films such as You’re Next and The Guest. The two creatives are card carrying horror royalty. The pair have worked on films such as V/H/S, Blair Witch, The ABC’s of Death, and A Horrible Way to Die.

An exclusive article of out Deadline gives us the limited information we have on the topic. Although we don’t have much to go on, Deadline does offer the following information.

A24

“Plot details are being kept under wraps but the film is in the vein of Wingard and Barrett’s cult classics like The Guest and You’re Next. Lyrical Media and A24 will co-finance. A24 will handle worldwide releasing. Principal photography will begin in Fall 2024.”

A24 will be producing the film alongside Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett for Ryder Picture Company, Alexander Black for Lyrical Media, Wingard and Jeremy Platt for Breakaway Civilization, and Simon Barret.

Director Louis Leterrier Creating New Sci-Fi Horror Film “11817”

Published

on

Louis Leterrier

According to an article from Deadline, Louis Leterrier (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) is about to shake things up with his new Sci-Fi horror film 11817. Leterrier is set to produce and direct the new Movie. 11817 is penned by the glorious Mathew Robinson (The Invention of Lying).

Rocket Science will be taking the film to Cannes in search of a buyer. While we don’t know much about what the film looks like, Deadline offers the following plot synopsis.

“The film watches as inexplicable forces trap a family of four inside their house indefinitely. As both modern luxuries and life or death essentials begin to run out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive and outsmart who — or what — is keeping them trapped…”

“Directing projects where the audience gets behind the characters has always been my focus. However complex, flawed, heroic, we identify with them as we live through their journey,” said Leterrier. “It’s what excites me about 11817‘s wholly original concept and the family at the heart of our story. This is an experience that movie audiences won’t forget.”

Leterrier has made a name for himself in the past for working on beloved franchises. His portfolio includes gems such as Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk, Clash of The Titans, and The Transporter. He is currently attached to create the final Fast and the Furious film. However, it will be interesting to see what Leterrier can do working with some darker subject material.

That’s all the information we have for you at this time. As always, make sure to check back here for more news and updates.
