Paranormal Games: Charlotte’s Web

Published

on

Charlotte's Web

It’s a new week and it’s time for a brand new paranormal game! This week’s selection is called Charlotte’s Web aka Charlotte’s Mirror, and it’s just a bit creepy and seems to have been born out of the same era online as the Three Kings Ritual. It definitely has that same vibe and even some of the same props necessary for game play.

Unlike the Three Kings, however, Charlotte comes with her own backstory which I pulled from Reddit:

Charlotte Webster was a 7 year old girl who lived in the 1400’s. Her mother was accused of being a witch and was burned at the stake. The young girl watched her mother die in agony and escaped into the woods. She couldn’t have known what to do. She was so young and had no means of surviving. The legend says that she died in those woods and was picked apart by the animals that came across her body.

So…nothing creepy about that, right?

Essentially, this game will supposedly allow you to conjure up the spirit of little Charlotte and have a chat, but you’re going to want to make sure you follow the rules.

Supplies, Rules, and Warnings for Playing Charlotte’s Web

Supplies:

  1. Flashlights: However many you need to see. Remember not to use flame of any sorts. No candles, lighters, etc. Charlotte’s mother was burned at the stake so she won’t appreciate fire.
  2. A child’s toy. This should be something you think that Charlotte might enjoy. This is an offering to her, so keep that in mind. You definitely want her to be pleased.
  3. Two chairs
  4. A small table
  5. A mirror

Rules/How to Play:

You’ll want to set this up in a room without windows if at all possible. If you don’t have access to such a room, make sure to cover the windows completely so no outside light enters the room.

Set up your two chairs, facing the same direction, with the table in between and slightly behind the chairs. Go ahead and set the child’s toy that you’ve brought as an offering to Charlotte on the table.

Set the mirror in front of the chairs so that you can see yourselves and the table in the mirror without turning your head.

When everything is in place, turn on your flashlights and then turn down the lights in the room and walk back to take your seat in the chairs.

Take a couple of deep breaths and then in unison say, “We want to play Charlotte’s Web” one time only. You might want to practice this ahead of time to make sure you’re really in sync with each other.

Look into the mirror, keep your eyes on the reflection of the toy and wait. Don’t be afraid. Charlotte can sense fear and she won’t come to you if you’re afraid. Eventually, Charlotte will come into view in the mirror.

If Charlotte takes the toy from the table then she is pleased with what you’ve brought for her. She likes to play and she’s naturally curious so at this time you can take turns asking her questions. Don’t be rude. Do not turn your head to look behind you or at the table. Keep your eyes on the mirror. When you have finished asking questions, you can then close out the game as explained below.

If Charlotte does not take the toy from the table then she is unhappy with what you’ve brought her. Remember she’s a child and she will throw a tantrum and the level of her tantrum is only elevated by the fact that she’s also a spirit. Immediately close the game as explained below!

Closing the Game:

Remember, do not look away from the mirror.

Again, in perfect unison, say, “Goodbye Charlotte.”

If you have successfully closed the game, Charlotte will slowly wander from view. Once she is gone, and only once she is completely out of view, you may turn around and look behind you.

You can now stand up and turn on the lights in the room. This game comes with the warning that you should only play it once because you do not want to draw the attention of Charlotte so that she decides to stay.

Warnings:

As stated numerous times throughout this explanation, do not at any time look away from the mirror. Don’t look at the person with whom you’re playing the game. Don’t look behind you. Don’t look at the table.

This could anger Charlotte, and again, her temper tantrums could end with injury or destruction of property in your house. Player be warned.

So that’s how you play Charlotte’s Web. Are you brave enough? If you’ve ever played, let us know in the comments! If you decide to play after reading this, let us know how it goes!

Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs. Kong) will be directing the film. He will be joined by his longtime creative partner Simon Barret (You’re Next) as the scriptwriter.

For those unaware, Wingard and Barret made a name for themselves while working together on films such as You’re Next and The Guest. The two creatives are card carrying horror royalty. The pair have worked on films such as V/H/S, Blair Witch, The ABC’s of Death, and A Horrible Way to Die.

An exclusive article of out Deadline gives us the limited information we have on the topic. Although we don’t have much to go on, Deadline does offer the following information.

Director Louis Leterrier Creating New Sci-Fi Horror Film “11817”

Published

on

Louis Leterrier

According to an article from Deadline, Louis Leterrier (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) is about to shake things up with his new Sci-Fi horror film 11817. Leterrier is set to produce and direct the new Movie. 11817 is penned by the glorious Mathew Robinson (The Invention of Lying).

Rocket Science will be taking the film to Cannes in search of a buyer. While we don’t know much about what the film looks like, Deadline offers the following plot synopsis.

“The film watches as inexplicable forces trap a family of four inside their house indefinitely. As both modern luxuries and life or death essentials begin to run out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive and outsmart who — or what — is keeping them trapped…”

“Directing projects where the audience gets behind the characters has always been my focus. However complex, flawed, heroic, we identify with them as we live through their journey,” said Leterrier. “It’s what excites me about 11817‘s wholly original concept and the family at the heart of our story. This is an experience that movie audiences won’t forget.”

Leterrier has made a name for himself in the past for working on beloved franchises. His portfolio includes gems such as Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk, Clash of The Titans, and The Transporter. He is currently attached to create the final Fast and the Furious film. However, it will be interesting to see what Leterrier can do working with some darker subject material.

That’s all the information we have for you at this time. As always, make sure to check back here for more news and updates.
