10 Insane Titles for Horror Movies

Published

on

I love the craziness that goes into the horror genre. Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s seriously in your face. But possibly the most absurd thing about the horror genre is that it boasts some of the most insane movie titles ever. Check out these really crazy ones – some are quite popular, and some are known for name alone. Let’s take a look.

C.H.U.D. (1984)

A bizarre series of murders in New York City seems to point toward the existence of a race of mutant cannibals living under the streets.

While the name may not seem that insane based on the acronym alone, once you know what it stands for, you’ll understand. Take a deep breath. Ready? C.H.U.D. stands for: Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers. Yes. That’s real.

S.I.C.K. Serial Insane Clown Killer (2003)

A couple of friends are chased by a killer clown in the woods during a week-end.

This acronym is entirely stupid and does not even attempt to make grammatical sense. C.H.U.D. also at least had the sense to leave the title as the acronym alone. This movie just combines it into one long and ridiculous title.

Sometimes Aunt Martha Does Dreadful Things (1971)

Stanley and Paul, a pair of friends on the run from the law, rent a house in the suburbs, where they decide the best way to lay low is for Paul to dress as a woman and pretend to be Stanley’s Aunt Martha. Not too long after the pair move into their new home, Paul suddenly murders a young woman Stanley brings home with him. Paul’s violent tendencies continue to spin out of control, and soon nobody who comes near is safe from him.

So, from the title of this film, I can already just assume that Aunt Martha is going to do Dreadful things – but if it’s only sometimes, does that mean it may or may not happen during the course of the film? I guess you’ll have to watch it to find out. I’m not going to watch this, by the way.

Gore-met Zombie Chef From Hell (1986)

A cannibal opens up a seafood restaurant, and kills and cooks people to serve to his customers.

No words. Insane. How is this real?

I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (1990)

When a motorbike gang kills an occultist, the evil spirit he was summoning inhabits a damaged bike. The bike is then bought and restored, but reveals its true nature when it tries to exact vengance on the gang, and anyone else who gets in its way.

Uh…okay. What? Who thinks of these titles? I usually try to come up with something of my own to add while writing these lists. On this one, though, I’m at a loss.

Monsturd (2003)

A serial killer mutates with a chemical inside a sewer, to become a monster made of human waste just as the FBI and police are onto him.

I’d say holy shit, but there does not seem to be anything even remotely holy about this in the slightest. Not one bit.

Killer Condom (1996)

The plot takes place in New York, and in the present. In a Hotel called “Quicky” a professor blackmails a student of his into having sex with him. But when the professor puts on a condom, the carnivorous condom bites off his penis and disappears. Detective Mackaroni who gets the case thinks that the college girl just bit off her teacher’s penis! Mackaroni goes to the motel himself to check out the crime scene, in the lobby he finds a gigolo named Bill and he asks him to follow him to crime room, there the two men attempt to have sex when they are suddenly interrupted by the attack of a killer condom.

If a penis doesn’t get bitten off during a horror movie, is it really a horror movie?

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!? (1964)

Jerry falls in love with a stripper he meets at a carnival. Little does he know that she is the sister of a gypsy fortune teller whose predictions he had scoffed at earlier. The gypsy turns him into a zombie and he goes on a killing spree.

The absurdity of this title is heightened tenfold by the exclamation points and question mark at the end. I’m not sure exactly what this means – is the title asking us something? Or is it just confused? Now I’m confused.

Sssssss (1973)

A college student becomes lab assistant to a scientist who is working on a serum that can transform humans into snakes.

While the title does make sense given the plot, it does not make it any less insane. Come on. Snakes on a Plane is titled better than this one, and that’s saying a lot.

Blood Orgy of the She-Devils (1973)

Lorraine and Mark enter the world of witchcraft where Mara foretells the future and helps them remember their past lives. When a series of mysterious murders begin to occur, they turn to Dr. Helsford for advice.

I give up.

‘Evil Dead’ Film Franchise Getting TWO New Installments

Published

on

It was a risk for Fede Alvarez to reboot Sam Raimi’s horror classic The Evil Dead in 2013, but that risk paid off and so did its spiritual sequel Evil Dead Rise in 2023. Now Deadline is reporting that the series is getting, not one, but two fresh entries.

We already knew about the Sébastien Vaniček upcoming film that delves into the Deadite universe and should be a proper sequel to the latest film, but we are broadsided that Francis Galluppi and Ghost House Pictures are doing a one-off project set in Raimi’s universe based off of an idea that Galluppi pitched to Raimi himself. That concept is being kept under wraps.

Evil Dead Rise

“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence,” Raimi told Deadline. “He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”

That feature is titled The Last Stop In Yuma County which will release theatrically in the United States on May 4. It follows a traveling salesman, “stranded at a rural Arizona rest stop,” and “is thrust into a dire hostage situation by the arrival of two bank robbers with no qualms about using cruelty-or cold, hard steel-to protect their bloodstained fortune.”

Galluppi is an award-winning sci-fi/horror shorts director whose acclaimed works include High Desert Hell and The Gemini Project. You can view the full edit of High Desert Hell and the teaser for Gemini below:

‘Invisible Man 2’ Is “Closer Than Its Ever Been” to Happening

Published

on

Elisabeth Moss in a very well-thought-out statement said in an interview for Happy Sad Confused that even though there have been some logistical issues for doing Invisible Man 2 there is hope on the horizon.

Podcast host Josh Horowitz asked about the follow-up and if Moss and director Leigh Whannell were any closer to cracking a solution to getting it made. “We are closer than we have ever been to cracking it,” said Moss with a huge grin. You can see her reaction at the 35:52 mark in the below video.

Happy Sad Confused

Whannell is currently in New Zealand filming another monster movie for Universal, Wolf Man, which might be the spark that ignites Universal’s troubled Dark Universe concept which hasn’t gained any momentum since Tom Cruise’s failed attempt at resurrecting The Mummy.

Also, in the podcast video, Moss says she is not in the Wolf Man film so any speculation that it’s a crossover project is left in the air.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios is in the middle of constructing a year-round haunt house in Las Vegas which will showcase some of their classic cinematic monsters. Depending on attendance, this could be the boost the studio needs to get audiences interested in their creature IPs once more and to get more films made based on them.

The Las Vegas project is set to open in 2025, coinciding with their new proper theme park in Orlando called Epic Universe.

Published

Jake gyllenhaal presumed innocent

Jake Gyllenhaal’s limited series Presumed Innocent is dropping on AppleTV+ on June 12 instead of June 14 as originally planned. The star, whose Road House reboot has brought mixed reviews on Amazon Prime, is embracing the small screen for the first time since his appearance on Homicide: Life on the Street in 1994.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s in ‘Presumed Innocent’

Presumed Innocent is being produced by David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, and Warner Bros. It is an adaptation of Scott Turow’s 1990 film in which Harrison Ford plays a lawyer doing double duty as an investigator looking for the murderer of his colleague.

These types of sexy thrillers were popular in the ’90s and usually contained twist endings. Here’s the trailer for the original:

According to Deadline, Presumed Innocent doesn’t stray far from the source material: “…the Presumed Innocent series will explore obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.”

Up next for Gyllenhaal is the Guy Ritchie action movie titled In the Grey scheduled for release in January 2025.

Presumed Innocent is an eight-episode limited series set to stream on AppleTV+ starting June 12.
