‘Halloween’ Actress Endures Real-Life Horror in Kidnapping Case

Daisy McCrackin Halloween Resurrection

Actress Daisy McCrackin – known for her role as Donna in Halloween: Resurrection – endured her own real life nightmare after being kidnapped along with actor Joseph Capone. This sounds like a scene straight out of a horror movie, but this is far from fiction.

An indictment filled on June 18 rehashes the tale of torture, extortion and true horror that took place back in 2017.

The crime unfolded after three kidnappers successfully stole McCrackin’s car and invaded her home in Los Angeles on May 3. Once inside, they reportedly attacked Capone and pistol-whipped him. Investigators working on the scene reported a trail of Capone’s blood at the home according to NBC News.

The three attackers proceeded to place black hoods over the heads of both McCrackin and Capone and on May 4, relocated Capone to one of the kidnapper’s home in Compton. From there they stripped him of clothes, threw him in a bathtub for 30 hours without food and subjected him to torture.

The allegation notes that Capone’s tongue was disabled by a cut, an eye was gouged, and his ear, nose and lip were also cut. There is also believed to have been a point where Capone tried to help McCrackin and was, “beat, punched, and kicked” as punishment, according to the BBC News.

According to Oxygen and an indictment statement, one of the perpetrators “did unlawfully and maliciously deprive Joseph Capone of a member of the body and did disable, disfigure and render it useless.”

While this was happening to Capone, McCrackin was being driven around from bank to bank. Her attackers hoped to extort money from her bank accounts. At one point, McCrackin did withdraw $100 and gave it to her captives.

Eventually, the three forced McCrackin to write a $10,000 check for Capone’s release. They also forged a fake registration document for her Lexus that stated McCrackin had signed over the car to them.

Once the bank trips were finished, the kidnappers – along with McCrackin – returned to her home in Los Angeles. Somehow, she was able to flee from her captives and notify the police.

The offenders received 17 felony accounts – according to USA Today – that include kidnapping, assault with a firearm, grand theft, mayhem, conspiracy, and attempt to sell methamphetamine. All three are facing life in prison.

A pretrial hearing is set for July 23.

The ghosthunting Great Dane with an anxiety problem, Scooby-Doo, is getting a reboot and Netflix is picking up the tab. Variety is reporting that the iconic show is becoming an hour-long series for the streamer although no details have been confirmed. In fact, Netflix execs declined to comment.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

If the project is a go, this would be the first live-action movie based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon since 2018’s Daphne & Velma. Before that, there were two theatrical live-action movies, Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), then two sequels that premiered on The Cartoon Network.

Currently, the adult-oriented Velma is streaming on Max.

Scooby-Doo originated in 1969 under the creative team Hanna-Barbera. The cartoon follows a group of teenagers who investigate supernatural happenings. Known as Mystery Inc., the crew consists of Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Shaggy Rogers, and his best friend, a talking dog named Scooby-Doo.

Normally the episodes revealed the hauntings they encountered were hoaxes developed by land-owners or other nefarious characters hoping to scare people away from their properties. The original TV series named Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! ran from 1969 to 1986. It was so successful that movie stars and pop culture icons would make guest appearances as themselves in the series.

Celebrities such as Sonny & Cher, KISS, Don Knotts, and The Harlem Globetrotters made cameos as did Vincent Price who portrayed Vincent Van Ghoul in a few episodes.
