Nightmarish Conjurings Screams Up Charity Drive For Planned Parenthood

Published

Written by Patti Pauley

As some of you may be aware, February is Women in Horror month in the horror community, and we take pride here at iHorror at stopping to recognize the hard-working gals in the genre we have so much passion for. Even with the industry being mostly male-dominated, that hasn’t stopped the lot of us from being as loud and creative as we can from horror bloggers like myself, female filmmakers, artists, YouTube horror personalities, and both iconic and up and coming actresses in the genre.

We also here at iHorror have to recognize fellow horror haunt review and news site Nightmarish Conjurings, as domain owner Shannon McGrew is going above and beyond to not only celebrate all the amazing women of horror that help keep the community fresh and lively, but has also launched a Patreon that runs throughout Women in Horror month with all proceeds being forwarded to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America; specifically the Orange County and San Bernardino locations.

“Having had my website for a little over two years now, I wanted to do something to give back to the community and make a difference. With all that is going on in this political climate, especially knowing that Planned Parenthood could be defunded,  it only seemed right to give back to an organization that has helped so many women, including myself.” – Shannon McGrew, Editor-in-Chief/ Owner of Nightmarish Conjurings.

The goal is to raise at least $500 for the campaign and the site is offering some major perks for those who help the cause! Tales of Halloween director Mike Mendez, actress Jessica Cameron, photographer Ama Lea, Alex Essoe and director/writer Izzy Lee thus far, will all be donating signed horror memorabilia for the project and you as a Patreon will be entered into a drawing to win some pretty terrific goodies. So at the end of the day, you’re supporting a wonderful institution who provides affordable healthcare for women everywhere, and possibly getting some sweet, one-of-kind horror prizes along with your donation. I’d call that a win-win, wouldn’t you?

If you’d like to learn more about this campaign, keep up to date, and are interested in supporting the cause, head on over to the Patreon site by clicking here to peruse your options.

It’s been three long years since Netflix unleashed the bloody, but enjoyable Fear Street on its platform. Released in a tryptic fashion, the streamer broke up the story into three episodes, each taking place in a different decade which by the finale were all tied together.

Now, the streamer is in production for its sequel Fear Street: Prom Queen which brings the story into the 80s. Netflix gives a synopsis of what to expect from Prom Queen on their blog site Tudum:

Scooby Doo Live Action Netflix

The ghosthunting Great Dane with an anxiety problem, Scooby-Doo, is getting a reboot and Netflix is picking up the tab. Variety is reporting that the iconic show is becoming an hour-long series for the streamer although no details have been confirmed. In fact, Netflix execs declined to comment.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

If the project is a go, this would be the first live-action movie based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon since 2018’s Daphne & Velma. Before that, there were two theatrical live-action movies, Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), then two sequels that premiered on The Cartoon Network.

Currently, the adult-oriented Velma is streaming on Max.

Scooby-Doo originated in 1969 under the creative team Hanna-Barbera. The cartoon follows a group of teenagers who investigate supernatural happenings. Known as Mystery Inc., the crew consists of Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Shaggy Rogers, and his best friend, a talking dog named Scooby-Doo.

Normally the episodes revealed the hauntings they encountered were hoaxes developed by land-owners or other nefarious characters hoping to scare people away from their properties. The original TV series named Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! ran from 1969 to 1986. It was so successful that movie stars and pop culture icons would make guest appearances as themselves in the series.

Celebrities such as Sonny & Cher, KISS, Don Knotts, and The Harlem Globetrotters made cameos as did Vincent Price who portrayed Vincent Van Ghoul in a few episodes.
