Fright Dome has held it’s own as being one of the most exciting destinations for Halloween in not just North America, but on the other side of the world in Hong Kong, lies an extension of what Fright Dome has made successful for over a full decade. The attraction scares the ever living crap out of thousands of attendees during the month of October and horror icons such as Sid Haig, Elvira, Linda Blair and George Romero have made appearances at the haunted attraction over the past years. Hailed as one of the top 5 haunted houses in America and predominantly featured on the Travel Channel, Fright Dome owner Jason Egan took some time out of his extremely busy schedule to give iHorror the lowdown on what to expect for the highly anticipated 13th anniversary of the infamous dome of fear located inside Circus Circus in Las Vegas:

“This is a big year for us and were teaming up with some pretty exciting people. I’m really trying to think outside the box with this one with less show and tell and more interaction than ever. I want the guest to actually be immersed in the experience. We’re working on an exciting elevator experience where you get locked in and it appears as if you’re dropping 13 floors with an unpleasant surprise at the end. It’s the kind of thing you may have seen go viral on YouTube but now you can experience it yourself.”

That my Halloween loving friends, is just the very tip of it. October 2nd, 2015 marks opening night for the vastly praised horror attraction with six sick and twisted haunted houses, zombie scare zones and the newly added Friday The 13th 4-D: A Deadly Experience ever so appropriately commemorating the 13th year. Partnering up with SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment, Fright Dome will be the first to exclusively feature the iconic 80’s slasher that we all know and love as a 4-D show! Fans of Jason Voorhees will experience the very terror of that from the film as the Crystal Lake slasher slaughters his way through 13 kills in 13 minutes. Guests participating in this newly added attraction just may end up in a stare down with our special, special boy.

Fantastic.

Another exciting new feature is The Insantatarium. The brainchild from Egan who’s bringing the horror to a new level by bringing a real haunt into this attraction:

“We’ve had actual pieces shipped from one of the most haunted hospitals in the country The Norwich State Hospital, they tore it down so we picked up some pieces from there such as morgue doors, bathtubs, sinks, wheelchairs and all kinds of fun stuff.  All these items will be in the Insantatarium to make the experience come to life. I actually got the idea from my buddy Zak Bagans (Ghost Adventures), and I thought, what a neat idea!”

Guests begin by checking into the nurse’s station to be voluntary committed into the Insanitarium.   The Morgue portion will include each guest being placed on the slab and be pushed through the morgue doors into freezing body lockers, so if you’re the claustrophobic type, you have been pre-warned! You will be forced to participate after being locked in, similar to the way a typical escape room works. You will have to fight the time clock and escape the hellish halls of this madhouse by attempting to figure out your way out of each room in order to move on. All while being targeted by one seriously disturbed doctor they have dubbed The Surgeon.

The surgeon is the main protagonist in this haunt gone completely psycho. Horror FX maestro Gary J. Tunnicliffe (Hellraiser, Halloween, Candyman, Scream) had his hands in creating the final make-up and special effects for the character and project whole.  The back story created for this character entails the twisted doctor performing weird surgeries for his own sick pleasure resulting in the murder of his “patients”. The families of the victims eventually catch up to him, corner him and cut his hands off in the hopes he will never perform any more procedures. But of course, as with any good horror tale, it can’t end there. The Surgeon made himself new hands, one of which pertaining to a circular saw blade, and the other a large machete. That’s one committed doctor. Don’t you agree?

In addition to these exciting new attractions, one of the many scare zones will be a 5 stage Freakshow incorporating the look and feel of an old-time side show, almost to the tune of what you may have seen in last year’s American Horror Story, with rotating acts from exciting performers such as Miss Firefly, one of the smallest girls in the world, sword swallowers and the amazing half girl Hannah. The Freakshow will coincide along the Midway where one can play carnival games and win some not so fluffy prizes.

Among the scare zones, haunted houses and various demented clowns popping up behind every corner, the arena offers up seven different thrill rides one of which includes the new gravity defying roller coaster, El Loco; While the other coaster the Canyon Blaster, will twist and turn you upside down into a dark fog giving you one hell of an adrenaline rush for you theme park thrill seekers!

Regular admission to the arena runs to the tune of $39.95 with an option for a fast pass (which I recommend to avoid wait times) for an extra $20. Fright Dome’s Black Carpet Opening Night Gala falls on Friday, October 2nd and is open for terror on select nights through the 31st. ‘Evil Dead’ Film Franchise Getting TWO New Installments

Published

on

It was a risk for Fede Alvarez to reboot Sam Raimi’s horror classic The Evil Dead in 2013, but that risk paid off and so did its spiritual sequel Evil Dead Rise in 2023. Now Deadline is reporting that the series is getting, not one, but two fresh entries.

We already knew about the Sébastien Vaniček upcoming film that delves into the Deadite universe and should be a proper sequel to the latest film, but we are broadsided that Francis Galluppi and Ghost House Pictures are doing a one-off project set in Raimi’s universe based off of an idea that Galluppi pitched to Raimi himself. That concept is being kept under wraps.

Evil Dead Rise

“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence,” Raimi told Deadline. “He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”

That feature is titled The Last Stop In Yuma County which will release theatrically in the United States on May 4. It follows a traveling salesman, “stranded at a rural Arizona rest stop,” and “is thrust into a dire hostage situation by the arrival of two bank robbers with no qualms about using cruelty-or cold, hard steel-to protect their bloodstained fortune.”

Galluppi is an award-winning sci-fi/horror shorts director whose acclaimed works include High Desert Hell and The Gemini Project. You can view the full edit of High Desert Hell and the teaser for Gemini below:

‘Invisible Man 2’ Is “Closer Than Its Ever Been” to Happening

Published

on

Elisabeth Moss in a very well-thought-out statement said in an interview for Happy Sad Confused that even though there have been some logistical issues for doing Invisible Man 2 there is hope on the horizon.

Podcast host Josh Horowitz asked about the follow-up and if Moss and director Leigh Whannell were any closer to cracking a solution to getting it made. “We are closer than we have ever been to cracking it,” said Moss with a huge grin. You can see her reaction at the 35:52 mark in the below video.

Happy Sad Confused

Whannell is currently in New Zealand filming another monster movie for Universal, Wolf Man, which might be the spark that ignites Universal’s troubled Dark Universe concept which hasn’t gained any momentum since Tom Cruise’s failed attempt at resurrecting The Mummy.

Also, in the podcast video, Moss says she is not in the Wolf Man film so any speculation that it’s a crossover project is left in the air.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios is in the middle of constructing a year-round haunt house in Las Vegas which will showcase some of their classic cinematic monsters. Depending on attendance, this could be the boost the studio needs to get audiences interested in their creature IPs once more and to get more films made based on them.

The Las Vegas project is set to open in 2025, coinciding with their new proper theme park in Orlando called Epic Universe.

Jake gyllenhaal presumed innocent

Jake Gyllenhaal’s limited series Presumed Innocent is dropping on AppleTV+ on June 12 instead of June 14 as originally planned. The star, whose Road House reboot has brought mixed reviews on Amazon Prime, is embracing the small screen for the first time since his appearance on Homicide: Life on the Street in 1994.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s in ‘Presumed Innocent’

Presumed Innocent is being produced by David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, and Warner Bros. It is an adaptation of Scott Turow’s 1990 film in which Harrison Ford plays a lawyer doing double duty as an investigator looking for the murderer of his colleague.

These types of sexy thrillers were popular in the ’90s and usually contained twist endings. Here’s the trailer for the original:

According to Deadline, Presumed Innocent doesn’t stray far from the source material: “…the Presumed Innocent series will explore obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.”

Up next for Gyllenhaal is the Guy Ritchie action movie titled In the Grey scheduled for release in January 2025.

Presumed Innocent is an eight-episode limited series set to stream on AppleTV+ starting June 12.
