Kane Hodder Will Kill Teens at ‘Summer Camp’

Published

on

Remember in November when we talked about a little horror game coming out this year called Summer Camp, in which you would be able to play as the killer or be killed by the killer? Well, what if I were to tell you that you would be able to play as Kane Hodder or be killed by Kane Hodder? Because that’s what’s happening! In a Press Release, Gun Media, the company behind the game, announced today that former Jason Voorhees star Kane Hodder will be the murdering menace in what is now title Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp.

And it makes perfect sense. Kane embodied all the now prototypical slasher tropes with his body language and threatening size. Not only that, he will be joining good buddies Tom Savini, who Kane will be working some motion capture with for the game and composer Harry Manfredini. It’s going to be a Friday the 13th reunion!

Having the look and feel of a killer that is going to resemble the movements of Kane Hodder is not only, for lack of a better word, awesome, but also going to give those of us that grew up with his Jason in the 80’s a real nostalgic treat.

KANE HODDER JOINS 1980s THEMED HORROR GAME SLASHER VOL.1: SUMMER CAMP

The man behind the Jason mask in Friday the 13th wants to kill EVERYONE

LEXINGTON, KY – February 4, 2015 – Gun Media announced today that Kane Hodder, known for his role as Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th film series, will be the killer in the upcoming game, Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp.

“Honestly, who else could we have chosen for the role of the killer?” Wes Keltner, co-creator of the game at Gun Media, explained. “Several people have worn the mask, but in our eyes, there was only one. Kane has the body type, the presence and demeanor that personify the unrelenting, undying killing force we’re after for Summer Camp.”

Hodder will be working alongside horror FX icon Tom Savini during motion capture sessions to record all movement and every kill found in Summer Camp. Players can take on the role of the killer and walk in the footsteps of the legendary Kane Hodder.

Kane Hodder stated: “Everyone has their own skills. One of mine happens to be killing people on screen. When Wes and the team behind Summer Camp came to me, I jumped at the chance to bring my skills to gamers around the world. Combined with the fact that Savini is on board and Manfredini is doing the soundtrack? This is a no-brainer.”

“When I was being considered to direct the next Friday the 13th movie I was going to bring Kane back as Jason,” said Tom Savini. “Kane and I go way back. I’m thrilled to be working alongside him again. In a way this is better and we get to bring Kane back. He’s the best in the biz…besides, who doesn’t want to BE Kane Hodder? Or better yet, who doesn’t want to be KILLED by Kane?”

Summer Camp will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Published

on

It’s been three long years since Netflix unleashed the bloody, but enjoyable Fear Street on its platform. Released in a tryptic fashion, the streamer broke up the story into three episodes, each taking place in a different decade which by the finale were all tied together.

Now, the streamer is in production for its sequel Fear Street: Prom Queen which brings the story into the 80s. Netflix gives a synopsis of what to expect from Prom Queen on their blog site Tudum:

“Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”

Based on R.L. Stine’s massive series of Fear Street novels and spin-offs, this chapter is number 15 in the series and was published in 1992.

Fear Street: Prom Queen features a killer ensemble cast, including India Fowler (The Nevers, Insomnia), Suzanna Son (Red Rocket, The Idol), Fina Strazza (Paper Girls, Above the Shadows), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty, Cinnamon), Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), Chris Klein (Sweet Magnolias, American Pie), Lili Taylor (Outer Range, Manhunt) and Katherine Waterston (The End We Start From, Perry Mason).

No word on when Netflix will drop the series into its catalog.

Scooby Doo Live Action Netflix

The ghosthunting Great Dane with an anxiety problem, Scooby-Doo, is getting a reboot and Netflix is picking up the tab. Variety is reporting that the iconic show is becoming an hour-long series for the streamer although no details have been confirmed. In fact, Netflix execs declined to comment.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

If the project is a go, this would be the first live-action movie based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon since 2018’s Daphne & Velma. Before that, there were two theatrical live-action movies, Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), then two sequels that premiered on The Cartoon Network.

Currently, the adult-oriented Velma is streaming on Max.

Scooby-Doo originated in 1969 under the creative team Hanna-Barbera. The cartoon follows a group of teenagers who investigate supernatural happenings. Known as Mystery Inc., the crew consists of Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Shaggy Rogers, and his best friend, a talking dog named Scooby-Doo.

Normally the episodes revealed the hauntings they encountered were hoaxes developed by land-owners or other nefarious characters hoping to scare people away from their properties. The original TV series named Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! ran from 1969 to 1986. It was so successful that movie stars and pop culture icons would make guest appearances as themselves in the series.

Celebrities such as Sonny & Cher, KISS, Don Knotts, and The Harlem Globetrotters made cameos as did Vincent Price who portrayed Vincent Van Ghoul in a few episodes.
