Full Moon Features Takes a Humorous Jab at Overused CGI with ‘Bad CGI Gator’ [Trailer]

Embracing humor in the face of excessive CGI, Full Moon Features unveils ‘Bad CGI Gator’. Set in Georgia’s swamplands, this tongue-in-cheek film tells the story of six college graduates on spring break. Their act of youthful rebellion—tossing school laptops into a lake—unexpectedly transforms an alligator into the monstrous ‘Bad CGI Gator.’

Bad CGI Gator Official Trailer

Director Danny Draven and writer Zalman Band playfully poke fun at the industry’s over-reliance on CGI, a trend popularized by movies like “Sharknado.” Charles Band, from Full Moon, comments on the film’s intention as a fun antidote to the genre’s CGI overuse.

There’s also something smart about this approach. By rolling with the whole ‘bad CGI’ theme, they’ve managed to create something entertaining without blowing their budget. It’s a cool example of how you can make a splash in filmmaking without splashing out too much cash. Clever storytelling, a bit of humor, and embracing the quirks can go a long way.
