If you share the superior intellect and exceptional taste of this author, then you probably enjoyed Aqua Teen Hunger Force in its heyday. The surreal series granted viewers an inside look into the adventures of Frylock, Master Shake and the loveable Meatwad. The show was so great, in fact, that you’ve probably been in a slight depression since it went off the air.

Out of all the episodes that made their way to the small screen – and even that awesome cameo of Bruce Campbell in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie – there were only a few installments that appealed to the horror connoisseur in all of us. Not many weeks passed without something terrifying happened, but the following five episodes take the cake.

1. Ghost of Smiley Junction

In the 11th episode of season 7, we start off our experience by watching Meatwad nearly drown as Frylock is enthralled with a new game on his phone. After rescuing himself, Meatwad remains unable to get the attention of Frylock or Master Shake. Moments later, a ghost ends up having the same problem.

In addition to plenty of poltergeist-like activity, this episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force introduces us to an unnamed specter that can flood the house with blood and make cell phones bite their users. It turns out that this little guy was killed in Smiley Junction after facing a nuclear warhead and being trapped within the city’s walls.

After managing to survive all that – well, not survive – it’s a cell phone that ends up knocking the ghost out of existence. Seems they can’t handle the signal waves from phones. Of course, this results in the ghost coming back as the ghost of himself. Which results in his prompt death from cell phone rays. Wash, rinse, repeat.

2. The Shaving

In season 2, episode 15, we’re introduced to who may be my favorite horror character in the history of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Willie Nelson! No, not that Willie Nelson. This Willie is a sort of onion monster that crawls around like a spider, and he lives in the attic of the Aqua Teen’s home.

As it turns out, he’s not very good at being a monster. In fact, it’s Master Shake who tries his best to introduce Willie to the exciting world of horrific murder and mayhem. Alas, Shakezula’s efforts seem to be in vain. Well, that’s until the fellas head up to the attic to see Willie’s living quarters.

Spoiler alert: It doesn’t end well for Carl.

3. Dummy Love

If the words “Kill, kill! Die, die!” aren’t stuck in your head following the 7th episode of season 5, I’m guessing you weren’t really watching. Dummy Love starts out with Master Shake reading a lovely bedtime story to Meatwad: Skulldilocks and the Seven Scorpions.

Shake is successful in scaring the living hell out of Meatwad, but moments later, a package arrives with a living ventriloquist dummy inside.

Oh, and he has a knife.

This little guy is terrifying in all the right ways, but the only thing he seems to accomplish with his constant chants of “Kill, kill!” is annoying the Aqua Teens. That’s when the guys decide to kill the dummy – to absolutely no avail. Then we get introduced to a second murderous dummy. The episode ends with Shakezula behind bars for attempting to kill the dummies when they come to life.

Yeah, it’s a roller coaster ride.

4. Monster

With a name like Monster, how could season 7, episode 5 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force not be terrifying? Well, at least in the only way ATHF knows how to be terrifying. As it turns out, this episode may truly consist of some of the creepiest moments since The Tall Man hosted Aqua Teen during its Halloween night marathon.

It all starts innocently enough: Master Shake trying to scare Meatwad by convincing him that the monster in his room is real. He hopes this little game will result in his getting hired as a professional monster hunter. Instead, the guys eventually discover that the “monster” is just a gerbil.

A gerbil that happens to be possessed by a demon. Who then happens to possess Shake. Who then happens to swan dive out of a window before showing up having murdered Carl. Things get pretty dark, and Shake really does look terrifying.

5. Broodwich

If you’ve been a fan of Aqua Teen Hunger Force for any amount of time, you know about the Broodwich. No, not the Blair Witch. Screen Rant called this demonic sandwich one of the best villains in the history of the show, and no one can really argue against that point.

In case you don’t remember, here’s a quick refresher:

“It is the Broodwich. Forged in darkness from wheat harvested in hell’s half acre, baked by Beelzebub. Slathered with mayonnaise beaten from the evil eggs of dark chicken forces into sauce by the hands of a one-eyed madman. Cheese boiled from the rancid teat of a fanged cow layered with 666 separate meats from an animal which has maggots for blood.”

It also has Dijon mustard, but bacon is extra! This evil sandwich attempts to snatch Master Shake into its hellish dimension throughout the episode, and Shake manages to dodge these attacks for the most part. That is, until he agrees to free brain surgery.
