Is This Our First Look at Jared Leto as Marvel’s ‘Morbius The Living Vampire?’

Published

on

We aren’t far off from Morbius The Living Vampire hitting theaters. Its release of July 31 can’t get here soon enough. As we wait for the trailer to drop, we might have had our first glance of star Jared Leto in full Morbius mode.

Over the weekend, our friends over at Bloody Disgusting stumbled upon a photo on Twitter that appears to show Leto vamping out as the popular Marvel character. The side by side photo shows a panel from the Marvel comic next to the photo of the alleged one of Leto.

If this is indeed real, man are we excited. The side-by-side is uncanny and really nails the look originated in the comics.

Morbius first appeared in Spider-Man #101 back in ’71. The character quickly became a fan fave and one of Spidey’s big bads, eventually spinning off into his own solo run.

For those unfamiliar with Morbius, it follows Michael Morbius, a brilliant scientist who accidentally turns himself into a vampire while attempting to cure his own blood disease.

As of right now, we are placing this in the rumor zone. But, with the trailer coming up soon we are remaining hopeful about this being the real deal.

What do you guys think? Digging this look? Let us know in the comments section.

New Images for MaXXXine Show A Bloody Kevin Bacon and Mia Goth in all Her Glory

Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine

Ti West (X) has been knocking it out of the park with his sexy horror trilogy as of late. While we still have some time to kill before MaXXXine releases, Entertainment Weekly has dropped some images to wet our appetite while we wait.

It feels like just yesterday X was shocking audiences with its granny horror porno shoot. Now, we are just months ways from Maxxxine shocking the world once again. Fans can check out Maxine’s new 80s inspired adventure in theatres on July 5th, 2024.

MaXXXine

West is known for taking horror in new directions. And it looks as though he plans to do the same with MaXXXine. In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, he had the following to say.

“If you’re expecting it to be part of this X movie and people will be killed, yeah, I’m going to deliver on all those things. But it’s going to zig instead of zag in a lot of places that people aren’t expecting. It’s a very decadent world that she lives in, and it’s a very aggressive world that she lives in, but the threat shows up in an unexpected way.”

MaXXXine

We can also expect MaXXXine to be the biggest movie in the franchise. West isn’t holding anything back for the third installment. “The thing that the other two movies don’t have is that sort of scope. To try to do a big, sprawling Los Angeles ensemble movie is what the movie was, and that’s just a big undertaking. There’s a kind of noir-ish mystery vibe to the movie that’s very fun.”

However, it looks as though MaXXXine will be the end of this saga. Although West has some other ideas for our beloved killer, he believes this will be the end of her story.

That’s all the information we have at this time. Make sure to check back here for more news and updates.

The Tall Man Funko Pop! Is a Reminder of the Late Angus Scrimm

Phantasm tall man Funko pop

The Funko Pop! brand of figurines is finally paying homage to one of the scariest horror movie villains of all time, The Tall Man from Phantasm. According to Bloody Disgusting the toy was previewed by Funko this week.

The creepy otherworldly protagonist was played by the late Angus Scrimm who passed away in 2016. He was a journalist and B-movie actor who became a horror movie icon in 1979 for his role as the mysterious funeral home owner known as The Tall Man. The Pop! also includes the bloodsucking flying silver orb The Tall Man used as a weapon against trespassers.

Phantasm

He also spoke one of the most iconic lines in independent horror, “Boooy! You play a good game, boy, but the game is finished. Now you die!”

There is no word on when this figurine will be released or when preorders will go on sale, but it’s nice to see this horror icon remembered in vinyl.

Director of ‘The Loved Ones’ Next Film is a Shark/Serial Killer Movie

Published

on

The director of The Loved Ones and The Devil’s Candy is going nautical for his next horror film. Variety is reporting that Sean Byrne is gearing up to make a shark movie but with a twist.

This film titled Dangerous Animals, takes place on a boat where a woman named Zephyr (Hassie Harrison), according to Variety, is “Held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below. The only person who realizes she is missing is new love interest Moses (Hueston), who goes looking for Zephyr, only to be caught by the deranged murderer as well.”

Nick Lepard writes it, and filming will begin on the Australian Gold Coast on May 7.

Dangerous Animals will get a spot at Cannes according to David Garrett from Mister Smith Entertainment. He says, “‘Dangerous Animals’ is a super-intense and gripping story of survival, in the face of an unimaginably malevolent predator. In a clever melding of the serial killer and shark movie genres, it makes the shark look like the nice guy,”

Shark movies will probably always be a mainstay in the horror genre. None have ever really succeeded in the level of scariness reached by Jaws, but since Byrne uses a lot of body horror and intriguing images in his works Dangerous Animals might be an exception.
