Fans of the perennial 90’s sci-fi/horror conspiracy show, THE X-FILES are about to get a look into the origins of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully’s investigations. Namely, as children. That’s right, a children’s book version of the FBI investigators will be hitting bookshelves later this year. THE X-FILES: EARTH CHILDREN ARE WEIRD will follow Mulder and Scully as their outdoors sleepover is interrupted by strange spacial lights spotlighting their tent. Mulder is of course quick to blame the phenomenon on extraterrestrial activity, while Scully attempts to come up with more grounded theories as to the strange disturbance. As they investigate the dark backyard, will they find the truth out there?

Entertainment Weekly broke news about this unexpected adaptation. Illustrated by Kim Smith, the book does an intriguing job of turning our more grizzled government agents into child supernatural detectives. Giving it a bit of a SCOOBY DOO or GRAVITY FALLS aesthetic. And much like those spooky children’s cartoons, this book is sure to be a great way for younger fans of scary stories and creepy critters to get hooked on horror. Especially such a notable franchise like THE X-FILES. Here’s the official synopses on Amazon:
One the most beloved TV shows of all time is now a sweet, silly, sci-fi bedtime story! In The X Files: Earth Children Are Weird, best pals Dana (Scully) and Fox (Mulder) have pitched a tent in the backyard for a sleepover. But the night is full of strange sounds, lights, and shadows. Surely there’s a rational, scientific explanation for everything . . . or is there? With beautiful illustrations of pint-sized Dana and Fox, this humorous and not-scary-at-all story will introduce the cult TV show to an entire new generation of fans.
