It’s with a very heavy heart I report that the Linkin Park singer, Chester Bennington, has committed suicide today July 20th, 2017. TMZ reports that the singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9 AM. The singer had been open about his past thoughts of suicide and his continued struggle with drugs and alcohol.
It feels like a wave of sadness has been overwhelming some of our most loved musicians. It was just this May that Chester’s good friend and Audio Slave band member Chris Cornell ended his life in the same manner.
These two sad events act as a reminder that depression is a very serious thing. Depression may not look the same in everyone, and does not discriminate between the rich and the poor. It can feel as if a dark cloud settles itself deep inside the recesses of your head – altering reality – you can see nothing else but the darkness and sadness all around you.
If you or someone you know suffer from depression and would like resources to help,
My heart, as many of yours, is heavy with the sadness of thinking why he felt so alone that this is what he thought was his only way out.
He will be truly missed.
