‘Alien: Covenant’ First Peek is Last Supper Short Film

Tonight’s Movie Pick Now Streaming on Netflix

We now have an official prologue short film for the upcoming Alien: Covenant thanks to Wednesday night’s episode of Legion on FX.

The sneak peeks mostly come at night… mostly.

The short has been labeled as a prologue and shows the crew enjoying one last hurrah before entering cryosleep. Captain Branson (James Franco) isn’t feeling well and retires early… maybe it’s just me, but I feel like that doesn’t bode well for our Captain.

In Alien: Covenant, the crew of a colony ship discover an uncharted paradise with a threat beyond their imagination and must attempt a harrowing escape. The film stars Michael Fassbender (Prometheus), Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), Danny McBride (This is the End), Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Carmen Ejogo (The Purge: Anarchy), Amy Seimetz (The Sacrament), Jussie Smollett (Empire), and Callie Hernandez (Blair Witch).

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film looks like it could have a great balance of deep-space distrust and freaky alien scares. Sign. Me. Up.

Alien: Covenant hits theatres May 19, 2017. Check out the prologue and the poster below, or follow the link for the first official trailer

(As a side note, I kind of love the shot of Daniels giving her speech. The poses and framing are reminiscent of The Last Supper, which is a cheeky little detail, given the title of the prologue.)
