‘Furiosa’ All Shiny and Gold in the Trailer for Latest ‘Mad Max’ Installment

Published

Furiosa

Director, George Miller doesn’t let age take away from his high-octane directing prowess. Miller created Max Rockatansky, a part of a police force that guarded the highways and kept humanity safe from marauders. Miller films speed unlike anyone else and has been copied and emulated many times over in modern films like The Fast and Furious, etc… Now, the Mad Max franchise has another entry that is ready and coming soon. Of course, I’m talking about Furiosa.

In the first photos that were revealed this week, we saw Anya Taylor-Joy in full gold makeup and looking brilliant and a clapboard with Furiosa written in a cool chrome font. Now, with a trailer, we have so much more to analyze and fall in love with.

Furiosa will act as a prequel revealing the backstory of Charlize Theron from Fury Road. Anya Taylor-Joy will take on the role of Theron’s character here. The film will not feature Mad Max. But, no worries. Miller says that in the future we will be seeing more Mad Max entries that will focus on good ole’ Max.

The synopsis for Furiosa goes like this:

“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”

Taylor-Joy also told Total Film that audiences will be spending a lot of time with the character in the new film.”You know, it takes place over, I think, three days: getting somewhere, and then turning around, and coming back. And (Furiosa) is an epic. This takes place over a long period of time, and you kind of get to know better in that way. I love that character so much. That whole experience was mind-boggling, and George is the best. I hope that (people) enjoy it.”

Furiosa arrives May 24, 2024. So, we have plenty of time to get ourselves ready for the new mind-blowing action that is fixing to wreck our lives.

New Body Horror Film ‘The Substance’ Releases Teaser

Published

on

We haven’t seen Demi Moore in a movie since The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent back in 2022. She has been busy though, she had a part in Ryan Murphy’s latest Feud chapter and now she is contemplating altering her body to make it more youthful in the body horror film The Substance.

Apparently, according to the official synopsis, there is a newly developed beauty regimen that “generates another you. A new, younger, more beautiful, more perfect you. And there’s only one rule: You share time. One week for you. One week for the new you. Seven days each. A perfect balance. Easy. Right? If you respect the balance… what could possibly go wrong?”

A still from the film (used in out header) suggests that this new technology requires a lot more than dabbing it under your eyes or administering a sticky mask. The film premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and was bought by Mubi. No US release date has been announced.

The Substance

The Substance reminds us of another FDA nightmare, The Stuff (1985) in which a commercially marketed whipped treat turns people into zombies. That film is a dark comedy about consumerism and gluttony. While Deadline reports that The Substance is humourous as well as gory, they don’t say how rooted it is in satire.
