Yikes! East Coast About to Be Invaded by Giant Parachuting Spiders

Published

on

Spider

It’s right out of a atomic age, 50s era horror movie. There is an invasion of giant spiders coming to the east coast. The giant and intimidating, Joro spider was originally from Japan. However, the spider made its way to Oklahoma and has since been spreading out quickly.

Now scientists from the University of Georgia have announced that there will be an increase in the number of the little terrors in both Georgia and all over the east coast.

The giant spider is great at surviving in the cold and doesn’t have many natural predators in the area so, the spiders are likely to continue to spread very quickly.

In addition, these little dudes can actually use little bits of web as parachutes or wingsuits in order to move around pretty quickly. They can use these methods to get themselves from point A to point B pretty dang quickly.

Spider

Scientists say that the spider doesn’t have enough venom to cause any life threatening effects. So, it mainly coming down to terrifying spiders zipping around on the wind and an abundance of spiderwebs all over the place come this May and June.

Don’t get me wrong, I love spiders from afar. I love watching them in tv specials. I love Spider-Man. However, I do not like them crawling on me or possibly parachuting into my fuckin hair. Not to mention the Joro spiders are pretty damn intimidating looking.

We can expect to see a lot more of these dudes over the next few years.

Rare

Some Like it Rare’s trailer proves that a cannibalistic horror film can also be a ton of fun. Watching two struggling butchers go for their dreams by way of murder is a lot of fun and while it is a French film, it could easily be compared the nature of the American dream.

The synopsis for Some Like it Rare is as follows:

Butchers Vincent and Sophie’s business is going under and their relationship is on the rocks. But their lives are changed forever when Vincent accidentally kills a vegan activist vandalizing their store. To get rid of the corpse, he butchers the body and Sophie accidentally sells the meat. Never has their product been more successful with their customers to the extent that they just might be tempted to kill again…

The film stars Fabrice Éboué, Marina Foïs, Jean-Francois Cayrey, Lisa Do Couto Texeira, Victor Meutelet, Stephane Soo Mongo, Virginie Hocq and Christophe Hondelatte.

Some Like it Rare is in select theaters on October 7 and on VOD beginning October 14.

‘Piggy’ Trailer Cuts Deep And Gets Gory

Piggy

Piggy already has a huge place in my horror-loving heart. This one will speak well to the outsider. There is a ton of great social commentary throughout about our true selves and society’s shaming, cliques, and bullies. It is already one of my fave of the year.

The synopsis for Piggy goes like this:

With the summer sun beating down on her rural Spanish town, Sara hides away in her parent’s butcher shop. A teenager whose excess weight makes her the target of incessant bullying, she flees a clique of capricious girls who torment her at the town pool, only to stumble upon them being brutally kidnapped by a stranger, who drives off with them in his van. When the police begin asking questions, Sara keeps quiet. Intrigued by the stranger — an interest that’s mutual — she’s torn between revealing the truth and protecting the man who saved her.

The film stars Laura Galán, Richard Holmes, Carmen Machi, Irene Ferreiro & Camielle Aguilar, with the special collaborations of Pilar Castro and Claudia Salas.

Piggy arrives October 7 exclusively in Drafthouse theaters and on VOD beginning October 14.

‘Halloween Ends’ Featurette Reveals the End of Jamie Lee Curtis’s Time as a Final Girl

Halloween

Halloween Ends is coming up in a little under a month and we can’t wait to see how David Gordon Green finishes out his trilogy of films. This will bring an end to Jamie Lee Curtis’s time as the final girl, Laurie Strode. It is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, but I think we should count ourselves lucky that she came back to the franchise to begin with. Looking back to the first Halloween by Green, it wasn’t originally a certainty that Curtis would come back to begin with. So, here we are 3 movies later and it’s pretty dang awesome that we got to see her play the role that many times.

The latest featurette dives behind the scenes and reveals the final battle between Myers and Strode. Plus, we get a look at how Curtis is dealing with the end of an era.

The Halloween Ends synopsis goes like this:

Four years after her last encounter with masked killer Michael Myers, Laurie Strode is living with her granddaughter and trying to finish her memoir. Myers hasn’t been seen since, and Laurie finally decides to liberate herself from rage and fear and embrace life. However, when a young man stands accused of murdering a boy that he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that forces Laurie to confront the evil she can’t control.

Halloween Ends arrives in theaters beginning on October 14.
