Watch Tim Curry Play The Joker in Original ‘Batman TAS’ Clip

A recent documentary about Batman The Animated Series surfaced and @Munson_Burner on Twitter cleaned up and enhanced the audio originally recorded by Tim Curry as The Joker. The Twitter user even does a fantastic job syncing up the footage with the original audio.

We all know that the role ended up going to Mark Hamill but it is an interesting time capsule to hear Curry in the role of The Clown Prince of Crime. During a lot of his inflections as The Joker you can hear moments in which he utilizes his Pennywise voice from Stephen King’s IT. You can watch the awesome clip below.

Of course, Hamill’s Joker had his audio professionally recorded and processed so that gives him a huge edge here. I would have loved to have heard Curry given the same opportunity with complete studio work done on his voice. However, this is as close as we will ever get.

Hamill is of course a legend and completely made The Joker. But, it is still interesting to think about what could have been if Curry had ended up with the role in Batman The Animated Series.

What do you think of Curry’s work in The Joker role?
