Fuzz on the Lens, the same production company behind Terrifier 2 & 3, put their heads together and created their next horror sensation; Stream.
In this rollercoaster of a slasher, unsuspecting guests are locked inside their hotel building during their stay. They don’t know it yet, but they are being hunted by four masked players tasked with killing them in sadistic and creative ways.
As the hotel guests fight to stay alive, an online audience streams the events inside the building. As the players stalk their victims, the viewers place bets on their impending deaths. The better the kill, the more points the killer receives. Points mean money. What better motivator is there?
The movie is star studded with names from the genre such as Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Dee Wallace (The Howling) and Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie). However, there is one appearance in particular that shook the foundation of the horror world; Tim Curry!
The Return of a Legend
With a filmography the size of the phonebook, and roles that have shaped the movie industry, Curry has played a vast array of personalities. From the fantastical to the most hideous, and everything in between. It is no wonder why the Leavy brothers called upon him to participate in Stream.
Stream writer and producer Jason Leavy told Variety;
“Having the opportunity to work with Tim Curry was already surreal, but knowing where this story was headed made it even more special. His appearance in the original film was designed to plant the seeds for something bigger, and ‘Stream 2: Sudden Death’ finally allows us to start pulling back the curtain on a much larger scale.”
Leavy continues… “Tim Curry is someone who has inspired generations of horror fans and filmmakers alike. From the beginning, we envisioned his character as part of a much larger story within the ‘Stream’ universe. The first film only scratched the surface, and we’re excited to bring him back in a bigger role that audiences will really respond to.”
Curry’s role was brief, but impactful. As Leavy mentioned above, his role hinted that the “game” being played in the hotel is on a much larger scale than what the audience was initially led to believe. To expand on Curry’s character presents the opportunity to expand into the sadistic world of voyeurism and greed.
More Deaths, More Points, More Blood!
The Leavy brothers will have to deliver on a much larger scale in Stream 2: Sudden Death. After the groundwork they laid in the original, the audience has a much larger bloodlust to satisfy. Bigger budget, bigger names, and of course bigger deaths! But it does appear they are off to a great start with the announcement of Tim Curry being onboard! Or should we say, logged in?
