Hey Tightwads! Let’s burn off some of that Thanksgiving weight with a batch of free movies from iHorror. How’s this for some cheap thrills?
Witchboard is about a woman who breaks the cardinal rule of contacting spirits by Ouija board; she uses the board while she’s by herself, predictably resulting in her own possession by an evil entity.
This movie was made in 1986, and it has the clothing and hairstyles to prove it. Although Witchboard is more of a possession movie than a slasher, the few kills that are in it are very memorable. It was directed by Kevin S. Tenney, who also directed Night of the Demons, and stars Tawny Kitaen, better known to viewers as the hood ornament on Whitesnake’s car and, later on, as a patient on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Witchboard can be seen here at TubiTV.
Cockneys vs. Zombies
It’s hard to take [insert noun] vs Zombies movies seriously these days, but Cockneys vs Zombies is one of the better ones. Everything you need to know about this 2012 horror comedy is in the name – it’s about a hapless gang of London delinquents who stumble upon a zombie apocalypse.
Of course, Cockneys vs Zombies owes a huge debt to Shaun of the Dead, but it stands on its own as well. There’s a particularly hilarious bit that pokes fun at the slowness of the Romero-esque zombies. Zombie movie fans can find Cockneys vs Zombies here at Crackle.
Nina Forever is a 2015 movie about a young man who is grieving over losing his girlfriend in a car accident. Just as he starts to get over her and begins dating another girl, the dead girlfriend begins popping up at the most inopportune times, sabotaging his new relationship.
This horror comedy is a clever little zombie-ghost movie that is full of both heart and humor. It’s a horror rom-com for people who hate horror rom-coms. Have a look at Nina Forever here at Vudu.
Come Out and Play
Come Out and Play is about a couple who takes a vacation to a beautiful secluded island. When they arrive, they find the island seems to be inhabited solely by children, and they soon learn why; the kids are homicidal maniacs who kill any adult that they can find.
Made in 2012, Come Out and Play is a somewhat loose remake of the 1976 Spanish exploitation movie Who Can Kill a Child? Directed by the enigmatically single-named Makinov, it’s basically a cross between Children of the Corn and Night of the Living Dead. Come Out and Play can be found here at TubiTV.
Murder Party is about a hapless dweeb who stumbles upon an invitation to a Halloween party. Unfortunately for him, it’s no regular party; he is the guest of honor, and the other attendees plan to kill him.
The director of Murder Party, Jeremy Saulnier, went on to make Blue Ruin and Green Room. Make no mistake, this 2007 movie is absolutely a comedy, but it’s got much of the same blood, guts, and intensity as its director’s later efforts. If you want to see the first feature from one of the hottest young directors around, you can watch Murder Party right here at Vudu.
