Hey Tightwads! How’s your week going? Can we make it better with some free movies from iHorror? Well, here you go…
Way back in 1982, before comic book movies were their own subgenre, there was Swamp Thing. The hero of Swamp Thing is a scientist who, while trying to create a plant-animal hybrid species, ends up transforming himself into said plant-animal hybrid species.
Although it’s a little more sci-fi than horror, Swamp Thing was directed by “the” Wes Craven and features an appearance by bona-fide Scream Queen Adrienne Barbeau. Often seen as a payday flick for Craven while he wrote A Nightmare on Elm Street, Swamp Thing has gained a healthy cult following over the years. Clever twist – the monster is the good guy! Director William Castle was the king of B-movie gimmicks, and The Tingler just may be his finest hour. This 1959 classic is about a doctor who discovers a parasite that lives inside the human body and thrives on fear, making the host’s spine “tingle” when they are afraid.
Castle presented The TIngler with a gimmick called “Percepto-Vision” which included vibrating shock triggers on seats in the theater that corresponded to the events onscreen. The TIngler also stars Vincent Price in one of his most iconic roles, so even if you’re watching at home without Percepto-Vision, it’s still a good time. You can find The TIngler here at Crackle.
Open Water 3: Cage Dive
The Open Water movies are full of unlucky people in unlikely situations. The third entry in the series, Open Water 3: Cage Dive, is about three adventure seekers who are out cage diving in shark infested waters. A rogue wave capsizes their boat, and the group finds itself treading water amongst the sharks.
Sure, the Open Water movies are pretty silly, but they’re nothing if not fun. They’re also surprisingly engrossing. Once you get started, they’re hard to not watch, and this 2017 threequel is no exception. Shark movie fans will love it. Check out Open Water 3: Cage Dive here at Vudu.
American Psycho 2
After the success of American Psycho, the fact that a sequel was made surprised no one. What is surprising is that American Psycho 2 stars Mila Kunis, then a cast member on That ‘70s Show, in the title role.
This 2002 straight-to-video movie tries to capture the dark humor of the original, but it really just becomes a pale imitation of its predecessor. Still, like Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 or Halloween III, it’s not all that bad when viewed on its own merits, and it even co-stars William Shatner. Make your own decision about American Psycho 2 here at TubiTV.
Clara is about an astrophysicist who is obsessed with discovering extraterrestrial life. When he loses his funding, he teams up with a bohemian artist, the titular Clara, to continue his research. He and Clara discover things in the stars that will change the way Earth people think about space.
Not so much horror as it is science fiction, drama, and even a little romance, this 2018 movie is gripping and moving. If you’re looking for scares, move along. But if you’re looking for wonder and fascination, take a peek at Clara here at Vudu.
