Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is reportedly considering a reboot of The X-Files, as stated by the show’s creator, Chris Carter.
During an interview with “On The Coast with Gloria Macarenko,” Chris Carter, the creator of the original series, disclosed the information while commemorating the 30th anniversary of The X-Files. During the interview, Carter said:
“I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount ‘The X-Files’ with a diverse cast. So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.”
At the time of writing, iHorror has not received a response from Ryan Coogler’s representatives regarding the matter. Furthermore, 20th Television, the studio responsible for the original series, has declined to comment.
Originally airing on Fox from 1993 to 2001, The X-Files quickly became a pop culture phenomenon, captivating audiences with its blend of science fiction, horror, and conspiracy theories. The show followed the adventures of FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigated unexplained phenomena and government conspiracies. The show was later revived for two more seasons in 2016 and 2018 on the same network, cementing its status as a beloved classic.
Ryan Coogler is best known for his work as the writer and director of the two “Black Panther” films for Marvel, which broke box office records and earned critical acclaim for their groundbreaking representation and storytelling. He also collaborated with Michael B. Jordan on the “Creed” franchise.
If Coogler does take on The X-Files, he would be developing the project under his five-year overall deal with Walt Disney Television, which includes 20th TV, the studio responsible for the original series.
