‘The Meg 2: The Trench’ Reveals Trailer Filled With a Lot of Megs and Dinosaurs Getting Eaten

The all-new trailer for The Meg: The Trench is making its rounds! The sequel once again stars Jason Statham on a jetski and he is out for more shark hunting expeditions. The trailer in question premiered at CinemaCon and blew audiences away with its large over the top, bigger-budget scale.
Perhaps most notably, is that this time around the trench that is opened up has all kinds of prehistoric monsters that includes the mighty Meg and several of her kiddos who are equally as big and hungry. The Meg: The Trench is looking fantastic in the way that the Fast and Furious films look brilliant. This is over the top action with a whole lot silly physics being thrown in for fun.
“It’s an opportunity to do action on such an insanely large scale, that it’s just unbelievable.” Director, Ben Wheatley said. “From doing Free Fire, which was, I thought, was all my Christmases came at once in terms of action, this is just unbelievable. And just doing the storyboards for it, just thinking and going, ‘Oh,’ it’s just … I feel a heavy responsibility for it, to make sure that it kind of delivers to all the big shark fans out there.”
We love that the very heady Ben Wheatley is the one doing these films. I mean, what more could we ask for?!
We should be seeing that CinemaCon trailer dropping on to the internet any day now. And, when it does arrive we will make sure to give you an update with giant sharks eating dinosaurs.
The Meg: The Trench arrives in theaters beginning August 4, 2023.

Steven Speilberg’s Cat and Mouse Classic, Duel Comes to 4K

Steven Spielberg’s cat and mouse classic Duel is the one that launched Speilberg’s career into orbit. The made-for-TV movie featured a gentleman driving across the desert and being constantly harassed by someone in an 18-wheeler. Duel shows what Speilberg can do within the runtime for this tightly wound-thriller. Now Duel is coming to 4K.
Duel is one of those films that has held up over the years. Dennis Weaver’s role is subtle and awesome all at once. Speilberg manages to make a film all about a dude in a car really compelling and at times all-out white knuckle.
The synopsis for Duel goes like this:
David Mann (Dennis Weaver), a mild-mannered electronics salesman, is driving cross-country on a two-lane highway when he encounters an old oil tanker driven by an unseen driver who seems to enjoy annoying him with dangerous antics on the road. Unable to escape the demonic big rig, David finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the monstrous truck. When the pursuit escalates to deadly levels, David must summon his inner warrior and turn the tables on his tormentor.

The special features ofeeee Duel’s 4K disc include:
PREVIOUSLY RESTORED IN THE 4K FROM THE ORIGINAL CAMERA NEGATIVE
ORIGINAL TV VERSION OF THE FILM IN 1.33:1 RATIO
HDR 10 PRESENTATION OF THE FILM
NEW DOLBY ATMOS TRACK

Get a Look Inside ‘Exorcist: Believer’ in New Featurette

Perhaps the most anticipated movie in this third quarter of the year is The Exorcist: Believer. Fifty years after the original came out, reboot artists Jason Blum and director David Gordon Green are adding to the canon of one of the most beloved horror movies of all time. They even got Ellen Burstyn to return as Chris MacNeil, mother to demonized Regan (Linda Blair) in the first film!
Universal dropped a video today to give fans a closer look at the film before its October 6 wide release date. In the clip, Burstyn gives some insight into the character she created half a century ago.
“Playing a character that I created fifty years ago: I thought she has fifty years of living. Who has she become?” she says in the video.
She has more to say as does Green in this mini featurette. As with most of these videos, there might be light spoilers so watch at your own risk.
