Found-footage fans, we’ve got a creepy one. Ricky Umberger—of The Fear Footage and Project Eerie fame—has unleashed THE MAN WITH THE BLACK UMBRELLA, and it’s available today (Sept 26, 2025) on Prime Video as a digital rental or purchase.
The hook is icy cold: at 3:38 a.m. on January 8, 2015, a man carrying a black umbrella allegedly broke into 818 Hilltop Drive and committed a double murder. The investigation that followed suggests “some murders shouldn’t be solved.”The film leans into that urban-legend/true-crime vibe, keeping things grounded and unsettling rather than flashy.
Umberger’s previous work helped push the DIY found-footage wave—Project Eerie hit streamers in 2023—and this one plays as a standalone story in that same universe. If you like methodical investigations that slowly get under your skin, this is your lane.
Release notes: It’s digital on Amazon today (rent/buy). A limited Blu-ray run was also offered and has already marked out of stock—so if you’re a physical collector, keep an eye out for restocks!
