Squid Game has become an enormous hit for Netflix. Everyone and their grandma is talking feverishly about this series. It is for good reason too. Squid Game is a great series that deserves the attention. Netflix reportedly paid a whopping 21.4 million for the Korean series.
Now, that sounds like a ton of money. But, with Netflix basically printing money it isn’t that much. In the grand scheme of things according to Business Insider, Squid Game will make up to $900 million. It’s a tremendous win for Netflix’s investment.
The Netflix phenomenon is still trending weeks after release and it continues to grow and generate conversation on social media.
Ultimately, the series opens the door to more Korean cinema! Which is great news. It’s a huge win for Korean film again. Parasite blew up at the Oscars and now we have the follow up of Squid Game on Netflix. Trends lead to more trends and I’m sure it isn’t a coincidence that a Korean murder mystery is the featured home screen film right now. There will definitely be a slew of new Korean films and series’ over the next few months. Great news!
