Showtime Confirms Both ‘Dexter: Origins’ and More ‘Dexter: New Blood’

Published

on

Dexter is coming back to Showtime. Despite the character meeting his demise, the network is still betting on two new series to bring fans in to watch. Dexter: Origins will focus on the fly-by-night serial killer in his youth. The series will reveal Dexter’s early days working with Miami Metro. It will also showcase younger versions of characters that we came to love. It is also being reported that characters like The Trinity Killer will make an appearance as well as a whole lot more.

The sky is the limit in terms of the direction that we can go in. However, this will entirely recast Michael C. Hall’s famous character. I’m not sure fans are ready for that kind of change at this point. It feels entirely too soon. But, who knows? We will have to wait and see.

In addition to Dexter: Origins and watching a younger Morgan in Miami Metro, we also have a continuation of Dexter: New Blood. This one will once again bring about Dexter’s son, Harrison following the events of that unexpected finale.

From what I recall, Harrison didn’t have a lot of fans but nonetheless, Showtime is doubling down on the character with a huge gamble. This will see Harrison return to New York City and find that he is plagued with the Dark Passenger just like dear ole’ dad. This will ultimately see the apple fall not very far from the tree.

Are you excited about Dexter: Origins and Dexter: New Blood? I’m really not a fan of Dexter: New Blood continuing the title of Michael C. Hall’s character without Hall being the focus of the series. I digress. Which are you looking forward to? Or… do you think that it is time for Dexter to hang things up and call it quits.

  1. Goody Weaver Cavorting In Camazotz

If they insist, they should make a show called “Dexter Timelines” where they either go back to Miami and bring back the old cast, set it in an alternative timeline (maybe even one where Doakes never died), and basically just redo the same formula without some of the mistakes of the final season – OR do something similar, but one where Dexter wasn’t killed off and Harrison is played by someone way cooler. And maybe Harrison becomes a killer and Dexter has to chase him around the country trying to stop him or something. But JFC don’t recast Dexter for a prequel no one asked for, and the kid who played Harrison in New Blood had about as much charisma as a wet paper bag, so not thrilled with that either.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
