In a bare-bones press release from Spyglass Entertainment, it was announced today that Scream 7 won’t be out theatrically for another year. The seventh chapter in the franchise will drop on February 27, 2026.
This was the announcement posted by director Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell who will reprise her role as Sidney Prescott. Although Courtney Cox is listed as a cast member on IMDb, in a recent interview with Variety she says she hasn’t been cast.
“I’m not officially signed on,” she said. “I’m not, but there will be a Scream 7.”
The script will be written by Guy Busick (Scream, 2022 and Scream VI) while Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein (Scream, 2022 and Scream VI) are producing.
Returning to the franchise is Radio Silence who will serve as executive producers.
The horror series has had a bumpy few years. First the drama with Neve Campbell who was not included in part six because of a salary dispute and then Melissa Barrera exiting the series followed by Jenna Ortega and finally director Christopher Landon jumping ship.
It seems everything has been worked out and even though we will have to wait over a year for a new Scream, it’s great news for franchise fans nonetheless.
