‘Revelations of ‘Becka Paulson’ by Stephen King Headed to the CW

The CW has picked up adaptation rights to Stephen King’s short story “Revelations of ‘Becka Paulson” under the working title Revelations according to Deadline.

After accidentally shooting herself in the brain with a nail gun, a Pollyanna-ish Becca Paulson is recruited by an over-it Jesus to be his “chosen one” in stopping the apocalypse. In order to save the world, Becca will have to prove that our deeply backward planet Earth is redeemable — starting with her quirky midwestern hometown.

Maisie Culver (Last Man Standing) is set to write the series based on King’s story, and Katie Lovejoy will serve as an executive producer.

The story was originally published in an issue of Rolling Stone back in 1984 and was used as source material for an episode of the 1990’s version of The Outer Limits (pictured above). That episode starred Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), John Diehl (Stargate), and Steven Weber (The Shining mini-series). Weber also directed the episode.

While it’s never been included in one of King’s collections, it was adapted as a subplot in his novel The Tommyknockers.

It will be interesting to see how Culver manages to expand the short story into a series, though there is undoubtedly a lot of possibilities built into its description.

iHorror will keep you posted on Revelations as more details become available.
