It has been 18 years since director Christophe Gans’ took us to Silent Hill and he is finally giving us a return trip. But, not so fast, the film doesn’t have a distributor yet so a release date still hasn’t been set. This entry is actually a reboot and a rough cut was privately screened at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival.
The last film in the franchise was 2012’s Silent Hill: Revelation directed by M.J. Bassett.
Gans is sticking close to the source material saying that Return follows closely to the plot of the game Silent Hill 2 than his original did for the first game. We are also getting a revamped Pyramid Head which more resembles the monster in the game.
There isn’t much to go by in the below teaser, but it looks promising. The plot revolves around James who receives a letter asking him to return to Silent Hill but he, “encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new, and begins to question his own sanity.”
Take a look at the teaser and we look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments.
