Pros – Cons and Favorite Moments From Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’ Trailer

Published

Munsters

The trailer for Rob Zombie’s The Munsters is finally here. As you would expect there has already been a lot of fan love and fan discourse. Zombie is onto something very different here. He is stepping way outside of his trademark style of raunch and gore. In The Munsters, he is paying homage and staying playful with a series that he grew up with.

Munsters

While we were watching the trailer we thought of a list of things that we loved about the trailer and things that we don’t like about it. The cons are things that could ruin the film for us ultimately.

While there was a lot executed in the film in order to make the series look as though it was a tv show in the 60s. This is the era when drama and comedy both had the same approach to aesthetics. For example, soap operas could look like comedies. So, seeing that Zombie tweaked the frame rate I understand what he was going for. It is giving it a soap opera look. But, The Munsters series had the benefit of looking like a soap and being in black and white and having grain in it from the era.

Munsters

However, I digress. I would like to share our list of pros and cons as well as our favorite moments caught in a screenshot.

Rob Zombie’s MUNSTERS Pros:

🪦 Zombie is a huge fan of The Munsters IRL

🪦 Zombie has included the appearance of A bunch of deep-cut characters! Those include Zombo, Augustus Wolfgang, Igor, etc…

🪦 it has a huge oversaturated psychedelic color palette

🪦 it’s a prequel that shows us origins to, a love story, and Herman in a punk band among other things.

🪦 It has the birth/arrival of Eddie!

Rob Zombie’s MUNSTERS Cons:

🪦 Editing is a tremendous mess.

🪦 The digital look is way too clean. It’s entirely too glossy and polished looking for Munsters. This gives it a REALLY low, low, low budget look. It needed some grittiness and maybe a film filter effect added on.

A lot of the campiness that the series was known for doesn’t translate well at times. Again, this has a lot to do with editing and timing. We are hopeful that these are edits that can be tweaked for better delivery of those moments.

🪦 They shot it at 29 FPS instead of regular 24FPS, it makes that digital look seem even more polished than It already was.

The synopsis for The Munsters goes like this:

From Rob Zombie comes the strangest love story ever told as Herman and Lily’s crazy courtship takes The Munsters on a hauntingly hilarious trip from Transylvania to Hollywood.

‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ Is a Go with Enhanced Budget and New Characters

Winnie the Pooh 3

Wow, they’re churning things out fast! The upcoming sequel “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3” is officially moving forward, promising an expanded narrative with a larger budget and the introduction of beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s original tales. As confirmed by Variety, the third installment in the horror franchise will welcome Rabbit, the heffalumps, and the woozles into its dark and twisted narrative.

This sequel is a part of an ambitious cinematic universe that reimagines children’s stories as horror tales. Alongside “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and its first sequel, the universe includes films such as “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare”, “Bambi: The Reckoning,” and “Pinocchio Unstrung”. These movies are set to converge in the crossover event “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” slated for a 2025 release.

Winnie the Pooh Poohniverse

The creation of these films was made possible when A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book “Winnie-the-Pooh” entered the public domain last year, allowing filmmakers to explore these cherished characters in unprecedented ways. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers, of Jagged Edge Productions, have led the charge in this innovative endeavor.

The inclusion of Rabbit, heffalumps, and woozles in the upcoming sequel introduces a new layer to the franchise. In Milne’s original stories, heffalumps are imagined creatures resembling elephants, while woozles are known for their weasel-like characteristics and a penchant for stealing honey. Their roles in the narrative remain to be seen, but their addition promises to enrich the horror universe with deeper connections to the source material.
