‘Primal’ Receives Brutal Season 2 Trailer That Continues the Adventures of a Caveman and His BFF Dino

Published

Primal

Genndy Tartakovsky is a bit of a Wunderkind already. His works are always 100 percent incredible. From Samurai Jack to Dexter’s Laboratory to Star Wars The Clone Wars everything he does is spectacular in its own way. His latest Primal outdid even himself. The incredible, gory and at times heartbreaking story of a Caveman (Spear) and his Dinosaur (Fang) is absolutely tremendous.

The synopsis for Primal goes like this:

“A caveman and a dinosaur bond over shared tragedy and work together to survive in a perilous prehistoric world. A caveman and a dinosaur bond over shared tragedy and work together to survive in a perilous prehistoric world.

It is hard to describe exactly how Primal flows. On one side, Tartakovsky is creating those classic and brilliant sequences of violence that make up a large chunk of the series. But, he also magically combines those fantastic sequences with incredible amounts of heart and inevitable heartbreak. If you haven’t watched it yet, please go and watch season one. I give you a guarantee that the first episode will hook you entirely. I also promise you that within the runtime of the first episode you will have laughed and cried and have become entirely emotionally attached.

The second season of Primal looks to be taking things to an all new level. It appears at times that Spear and Fang have crossed over to the underworld. It also looks like we see Satan sitting at a giant throne at one point. I can’t wait to find out what direction the new season takes these our favorite best friends.

Primal season two arrives at Midnight on Adult Swim beginning July 21. It will then arrive to stream on HBO Max the following day.

Margaux

Margaux is the ultimate smart home that might also be the ultimate killer. Director Steven C. Miller of Silent Night and First Kill fame brings this techno-thriller to another level. The insanely smart home has all sorts of bells and whistles like walls that are made entirely from 3D printers. Meaning the walls themselves can create anything you desire all around you. Of course, this also means the smart house gone bad can create anything it desires in order to kill you.

The synopsis goes like this:

What Margaux wants, she gets. As a group of seniors celebrate their final college days at a smart house, the house’s highly advanced AI system, Margaux, begins to take on a deadly presence of her own. A carefree weekend of partying turns into a dystopian nightmare as they realize Margaux’s plans to eliminate her tenants one way or another. Time begins to run out as the group desperately tries to survive and outsmart the smart home.

‘The Ring’ Comes to Blu-Ray Steelbook Complete With VHS Slipcase Design

Published

on

Ring

Japan’s entry into J-Horror with Ringu was one of the best that there has ever been. When America decided to do a remake, I can still recall a lot of people being upset that it wouldn’t measure up. However, Gore Verbenski’s dark portrait was nearly a better film than the original. From its ominous start to shocking finish The Ring was effective around every corner. 20 years later folks can still appreciate Verbenski’s film and in order to celebrate the film turning 20 we are getting a cool steelbook blu-ray for the film.

The steelbook comes with an awesome VHS design slipcase. Inside the steelbook is made of static and the iconic scene with Samara and the well.

The synopsis for The Ring goes like this:

It sounds like just another urban legend — a videotape filled with nightmarish images leads to a phone call foretelling the viewer’s death in exactly seven days. Newspaper reporter Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) is skeptical of the story until four teenagers all die mysteriously exactly one week after watching just such a tape. Allowing her investigative curiosity to get the better of her, Rachel tracks down the video and watches it. Now she has just seven days to unravel the mystery.

Verbinki’s film is genuinely scary and it entirely deserves a 20th anniversary release. It is a film that has managed to stay in the conversation when horror films are being discussed. It still manages to get heavy play during the Halloween season on AMC. Rightfully so.

You can pick up your copy of The Ring’s special edition beginning October 18.
