The Old Guard

Netflix’s The Old Guard is set to debut on the streaming platform on July 10, 2020.

Based on the graphic novel by the same name, the film concerns a group of immortal mercenaries who protect the mortal world around them.

After their supernatural abilities are exposed to the world at large, they’ll have to fight to remain free from those who would try to cage them in an attempt to replicate their abilities.

Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the film based on a script by Greg Rucka (Whiteout) who co-created the comic with Leandro Fernandez.

Charlize Theron (Monster) stars as Andy, the leader of the mercenary group. She is joined by Chiwetel Eljofor (Doctor Strange), Harry Melling (the Harry Potter franchise), Natacha Karam (Homeland), Kiki Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk), Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin), and Veronica Ngo (Bright).

The Old Guard was issued by Image Comics in February of 2017 with Rucka writing and artwork by Fernandez who has worked on other titles including Deadpool and Punisher: Max.

The original series ran five issues and was followed by a second series with The Old Guard: Force Multiplied.

Take a look at the first teaser trailer for The Old Guard below and look for it on Netflix on July 10, 2020.
