Netflix UK: New Horrors added this week

Published

on

Friday 15th May

An update only every two weeks is becoming common place and it just isn’t good enough Mr Netflix UK! Only one movie added in that time but more than that taken away, among them are Shutter IslandĀ  and Human Centipede 2. But on the up side, they have added The Omen 2!

The Omen II

Ā

Friday 1stĀ May

Nothing to report for a few weeks then a whopping 8 Horrorā€™s removed with only one addition, Netflixā€¦ are you crazy?!?

Amongst the removals are Scream 2 and 3 which is surprising given that the news of a Scream 5 movie in the works was broken recently and there is a TV version coming to us shortly too.Ā  Also we say good bye to Hearstopper, My Soul to Take, The Ninth Gate and Stephen Kingā€™s Desperation.

But never mind all that because we did receive an awesome movie in return:

Friday 10th April

Three new movies to the horror genre this well guys and gals. Some great ones too.

The Sentinel
This 70ā€™s movie has raised its head Iā€™m sure due to the recent interest the genre has been taking in the supernatural.Ā  Great movie for its time and still scary. Ā A lady get a great deal on a new apartment only to find out she has just bought the gateway to hell. They donā€™t make them like that anymore.

[youtube id=”YMIssiMkt04″ align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Tremors
Mother F@#!in Tremors man… What could be better than a cheeky but of Kevin Bacon trying to outrun underground thirty foot monsters that travel at the speed of a charging bull?Ā  Throw in a few gruesome deaths and you have yourself an instant classic. Watch it, watch it, watch it!

[youtube id=”liJfZvXdiTE” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Afflicted
I love indie movies and this is one of the best I have seen. It is a cam based found footage style recoding and follows a man as he becomes infected byā€¦well, something that starts to take over him, increasing him in strength. But instead of him putting it to good use the he becomes more and more aggressive!

[youtube id=”WkvCNae3Ip8″ align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Friday 4th April

Over a hundred videos removed from the Netflix UK options this weekā€¦and thatā€™s not an April fools. Luckily for us there was not that many horrors but two new puppies to gork at.

Devilā€™s Backbone Texas
Starting as a documentary style following of a man who has eligibly seen spirits while suffering a near death experience, this movie takes a turn into the found footage genre as the story unfolds.Ā  Lots of scary moments as the journalist searches for the truth about his past farther, does he find it?

[youtube id=”V-67-d9RxBU” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Splatter
Rock star Corey Feldman kills himself to come back as a zombie type creature to take revenge on the people that abused him throughout his life. Very Gorey, very Corey and a short movie directed by Joe Dante check it out. Thatā€™s about it really.

Friday 27thĀ March

Two in, one out this week and unfortunately Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has bit the dust. This was a massively enjoyable movie full of monsters with great visual effect and I will be sorry to see it go. Netflix UK and redeemed themselves however by adding two movies to make up for it, one of which I have not seen.

Poltergeist 3
The last in the series of the Poltergeist movies made its way to the Netflix UK servers this week. Given that there is a remake of the first instalment on the way, what better way to celebrate than to upload the third movieā€¦well maybe upload the first two as well?

[youtube id=”EqKUY56RSzQ” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Letā€™s Scare Jessica to Death
Having never seen this 1971 movie I leave you with the blurb curtesy of IMDB.com

A recently institutionalized woman has bizarre experiences after moving into a supposedly haunted country farmhouse and fears she may be losing her sanity once again.

[youtube id=”cX4eZD3GiL0″ align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Friday 20thĀ March

Nothing to report in the horror genre for nearly two weeks, and then Netflix UK pulled their finger out and added a British horror.

Dead Cert
Staring some recognisable faces from British soaps,Ā this movies combines the vampire underworld with the equally scary London gangster and what we get is a cross somewhere between Near Dark and Snatch! Ā Well worth a watch.

[youtube id=”GvrkosJjllw” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Friday 6thĀ March

No horror movies added to the Netflix UK service this week which I’m not happy about and they have even removed one,Ā Open Graves! Ā If there is anything that can redeem the management over in the Netflix UK office it would be the addition of some horror TV series. Ā What do you know…? Series 2 ofĀ Bates MotelĀ has been added!

Bates Motel: Season 2
If you haven’t started watching the series I seriously suggest that you do, as they are brilliant. Based on the classicĀ PsychoĀ movies the series has had nothing but good feedback from its viewers. Ā Starting where it all began, we follow Norman Bates’ younger years, before the events that took place in the original movies. Ā Giving insight to the serious mental condition that will later turn into the multiply personality disorder spurring the grizzly events that took place in the wonderful movie by Alfred Hitchcock.

Friday 27th February

This week it seems that the horror fans were not the priority to the Netflix UK team only releasing one movie to keep us going. Maybe we are not watching as many movies as the teen comedy genre and therefore Barely LegalĀ took our spot.

Species 3
Cool Species 3 is on Netflix UK, I better catch up on Species 1 and 2 first. Oh wait, theyĀ aren’tĀ on there. Ā That right folks they’ve done it again, Species 3Ā has been added to the list which is great news, but bad news for those of you that haven’t seen the first two movies that came before it. Better get yourself down to Blockbuster and rent the first to there instead – Oh yeah…

[youtube id=”rY6KfSoHr4Y” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Friday 20th February

Well Netflix UK are keeping us horror fans engaged with some new spookies released this week. Had these one been on the server last week they would have made my list of top horrors. Ā Sadly all good things must come to an end and unfortunately Jack Brooks Monster Slayer has been removed but I guess Netflix UK have made up for it with the following.

Mama
Two infants are left to take care of themselves in an old shack in the woods following the death of their mother. Discovered five years later, now with obvious differences from the normal preteen child, it is up to their uncle (Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to take care of them. But it would appear their deceased mother has not let go of this world and wants to take her children with her.

[youtube id=”GZlY47eCdas” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

Spooky as hell and goes from a less-is-more style movie to a full on, in your face supernatural experience. Defiantly one work giving your time.

Vampires
What a great addition to the list of already top horrors on Netflix UK. Known commonly as John Carpenter’s Vampires, James Woods and Daniel Baldwin kick vampire ass all over the place with their team of hunters, until the head vamp comes to town looking for a talisman that will allow him to walk in the sunlight.

[youtube id=”iLMnslWrM2s” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no”]

You canā€™t help but love Woods’ character in this one, a little bit cheesy in places but that just makes it more enjoyable. Pencil this one into your Netflix UK horror diary!

Well that’s all for this week but don’t worry, if you find yourself still searching for something to watch, head over to my articleĀ The Best Horror Movies on UK Netflix. Ā See you guys next Friday, hopefully with more additions to the Netflix UK horror category, until then happy viewing!

Arcadian Movie Trailer

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has given this film an “R” rating for its “bloody images,” hinting at the visceral and intense experience awaiting viewers. The film draws inspiration from acclaimed horror benchmarks like “A Quiet Place,” weaving a post-apocalyptic tale of a father and his two sons navigating a desolate world. Following a catastrophic event that depopulates the planet, the family faces the dual challenge of surviving their dystopian environment and eluding mysterious nocturnal creatures.

Joining Nicolas Cage in this harrowing journey are Jaeden Martell, known for his role in “IT” (2017), Maxwell Jenkins from “Lost in Space,” and Sadie Soverall, featured in “Fate: The Winx Saga.” Directed by Ben Brewer (“The Trust”) and penned by Mike Nilon (“Braven”), “Arcadian” promises a unique blend of poignant storytelling and electrifying survival horror.

‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ Is a Go with Enhanced Budget and New Characters

Published

on

Winnie the Pooh 3

Wow, they’re churning things out fast! The upcoming sequel “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3” is officially moving forward, promising an expanded narrative with a larger budget and the introduction of beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s original tales. As confirmed by Variety, the third installment in the horror franchise will welcome Rabbit, the heffalumps, and the woozles into its dark and twisted narrative.

This sequel is a part of an ambitious cinematic universe that reimagines childrenā€™s stories as horror tales. Alongside “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and its first sequel, the universe includes films such as “Peter Panā€™s Neverland Nightmare”, “Bambi: The Reckoning,” and “Pinocchio Unstrung”. These movies are set to converge in the crossover event “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” slated for a 2025 release.

Winnie the Pooh Poohniverse

The creation of these films was made possible when A.A. Milneā€™s 1926 childrenā€™s book “Winnie-the-Pooh” entered the public domain last year, allowing filmmakers to explore these cherished characters in unprecedented ways. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers, of Jagged Edge Productions, have led the charge in this innovative endeavor.

The inclusion of Rabbit, heffalumps, and woozles in the upcoming sequel introduces a new layer to the franchise. In Milne’s original stories, heffalumps are imagined creatures resembling elephants, while woozles are known for their weasel-like characteristics and a penchant for stealing honey. Their roles in the narrative remain to be seen, but their addition promises to enrich the horror universe with deeper connections to the source material.
