Netflix Renews ‘Locke and Key’ for Two More Seasons

by Trey Hilburn III

Netflix has renewed the fantasy – horror Locke and Key for not just one – but two seasons. The comic book by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez has plenty of room to expand. So, a second and third season is a great move.

We have some incredible adventures in store for the Locke family in season 3, and could not be more excited to continue telling our story with our great partners at Netflix. showrunner, Carlton Cuse said.

The story of Locke and Key follows three siblings who move into a mysterious house following their father’s murder. There they discover life changing and horrifying revelations.

The Netflix series doesn’t quite have the edge that the comics had. There is a lot more horror and a darker sensibility involved in the comics. I’m hopeful that, the following seasons explore more of the territories that the comics are primarily known for.

This comes as good new for Joe Hill fans. His AMC series NOS4A2 was cancelled this year. Hill’s work is a rich bit of tapestry to pull from and there is plenty here. I’m just hopeful that they can nail down the tone. Tone seems to be the hardest thing to get down when talking Hill works. Personally, I think the closest that we have come to nailing down the proper Hill tone was with the the adaptation of Horns.
