Nickelodeon and Mattel have joined forces to create an all-new live-action Monster High movie.

According to Deadline, the film “follows Clawdeen Wolf (Miia Harris), who was born half human and half werewolf, after she arrives at her new school, Monster High. She quickly makes friends with her classmates Frankie Stein (Ceci Balagot) and Draculaura (Nayah Damasen), and for the first time in her life, Clawdeen feels like she has finally found a place where she fits in and can truly be herself, despite keeping her human half a secret. When a devious plan to destroy Monster High threatens to reveal her real identity, Clawdeen must learn to embrace her true monster heart and find a way to save the day.”

Harris, Balagot, and Damasen are joined in the cast by Case Walker and Kyle Selig among others.

Todd Holland will direct and executive produce the film based on a script by Jenny Jaffe, Billy Eddy, and Matt Eddy.

The Monster High dolls were first introduced back in 2010. Based on classic monster stories, the designers gave them a glam polish while still keeping a semi-creepy vibe. The unique brand focused on inclusivity and the “other.” They were an immediate success and spawned expanded character assortments and stories as well as an animated series.

The live-action film is set to release in 2022 on Nickelodeon. Stay tuned for more details!
