Speaking with Bloody Disgusting while promoting Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Carrie series, Lillard confirmed that an early version of the screenplay has already arrived.

“I know the early version of the script came through and everyone’s really excited about it,” Lillard said. “And I know they’re moving to the next level, so we will be shooting in 2027.”

Lillard, who appeared in both previous Five Nights at Freddy’s movies, is set to return for the third installment.

Gary Dauberman Takes Over the Script

Gary Dauberman is reported to be writing Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, taking over from franchise creator Scott Cawthon, who wrote the previous two films.

Dauberman has plenty of horror experience behind him, with credits including IT, The Nun, Salem’s Lot and Until Dawn.

Emma Tammi, who directed both previous Five Nights at Freddy’s movies, is expected to return for the third film.

Skeet Ulrich has also teased his return alongside Lillard.

Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio and Elizabeth Lail have not yet been confirmed to return.

There is currently no official release date for Five Nights at Freddy’s 3. With production expected to begin sometime in 2027, more casting and release details should start coming together as the project gets closer to filming.
