Marilyn Manson with his mom

Unfortunate news for one of our iHorror friends – Marilyn Manson

After years battling dementia, Barbara J. Warner, the mother of Marilyn Manson, died on Tuesday. She was 68.

The shock rocker, whose real name is Brian Warner, took to Facebook to express his sorrow.

“To my Mother, the first and greatest believer in me…I hope I see you again someday. But not now, because I have more things I promised I would do. I’ll make you proud and satisfied that you know you made the son you wanted.”

Great Marilyn Manson Music Emerges

Amidst this very sad news we were pleased to hear Marilyn Manson’s new song debut on the tv show Salem.

The 45-year-old industrial-metal icon wrote the song with an assist from Salem’s in-house composer Tyler Bates (Californication, Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects), as The Hollywood Reporter points out. Dubbed “Cupid Carries a Gun,” the track features Manson’s creepy rasp over a mix of percussion and acoustic guitar that could keep pace with “Beautiful People”.

“The song ‘Cupid Carries a Gun’ was the last track we just finished for my new album,” Manson told THR. “The occult and witchcraft [are] so often used in cinema with a heinous disregard for even researching its origins. However, I liked the themes of Salem. It looks at the witch trials without being cliche like most modern films.”

Like he says in the song, “Better pray for hell, not hallelujah.”
