St. Patrick’s Day is here and that’s cause for celebration. Whether you’re celebrating traditional Irish customs or engaging in drunken shenanigans, St. Patrick’s Day is a good time for everyone. So, why not throw some spooky films into the mix and keep those good times rolling? Below, we have selected five of the best St. Patrick’s Day horror films to add some boo to your brew this year.
Maniac Cop

Maniac Cop might not be about leprechauns, but this cult slasher brings terror to the streets of New York during the city’s iconic St. Patrick’s Day parade. Corrupt cops, an undead killer in uniform, and a city on edge—what more could you want for a March 17th horror binge?
Basically, just think of Robocop with worse effects. Except for the fact that this cop is focused more on murder and gore than whatever message Robocop failed to deliver. While it may not be a perfect film, Maniac Cop is a great way to tie off a night of drunken hijinks with friends.
The Hallow

If you want to go the more traditional Irish folklore route, The Hallow is the film for you. Those who have done their homework are already aware that fairies are not the lighthearted creatures we believe them to be in America. In the traditional lore, they are powerful creatures who can help or inflict harm based on their mood that day.
The Hollow gives us a glimpse into what happens when newcomers ignore the local warnings about the ancient creatures. If you are looking for more of a slow burn horror to finish off this St. Patrick’s Day, go watch The Hallow.
Leprechaun (1993)

You knew this was going to be the list right? It is impossible to do a St. Patrick’s Day list without mentioning Leprechaun. This iconic franchise has long been a staple in the horror genre.
It has continued to produce sequels and reboots for 30 years. However, viewer be warned as the sequels go really far off the rails really quickly. If you are looking for some nostalgia this holiday season, why not watch Leprechaun for the 40th time?
Grabbers

Grabbers asks a simple question. What if Tremors was made in Ireland? It turns out the answer is pure awesomeness. This film features some impressive CGI effects and is one of the funniest St. Patrick’s Day films you will ever come across.
At its heart, Grabbers is a meta horror film. It takes the common tropes in the creature feature genre and plays around with it. This results in some truly hilarious scenes. If you are looking for a laugh this St. Patrick’s Day, go watch Grabbers.
Unlucky Charms

Who doesn’t love a good Full Moon Feature? If you are familiar with the Full Moon then you already know what to expect from this film. Namely, huge amounts of nonsensical horror and campy comedy.
Unlucky Charms follows five young women as they audition for the chance to model for an iconic fashion line. However, as they complete their challenges, the girls begin to go missing. Unlucky Charms may not have the budget of some of the other films on this list but it is one of the whackiest. If you want some straight up bonkers this St. Patrick’s Day, this is a must watch film.
